Joyfully Embracing Our Mission
St. Clare School Family News | 23 May 2021
Come, Holy Spirit, Come!
And from your celestial home
Shed a ray of light divine!
Come, Father of the poor!
Come, source of all our store!
Come, within our bosoms shine.
You, of comforters the best;
You, the soul’s most welcome guest;
Sweet refreshment here below;
In our labor, rest most sweet;
Grateful coolness in the heat;
Solace in the midst of woe.
O most blessed Light divine,
Shine within these hearts of yours,
And our inmost being fill!
Where you are not, we have naught,
Nothing good in deed or thought,
Nothing free from taint of ill.
Heal our wounds, our strength renew;
On our dryness pour your dew;
Wash the stains of guilt away:
Bend the stubborn heart and will;
Melt the frozen, warm the chill;
Guide the steps that go astray.
On the faithful, who adore
And confess you, evermore
In your sevenfold gift descend;
Give them virtue’s sure reward;
Give them your salvation, Lord;
Give them joys that never end. Amen.
Alleluia.
Dear St. Clare School Families,
Happy Birthday, Church! Today is Pentecost Sunday, the day the Christian Church began while the disciples were TOGETHER. The transformation they experienced was experienced TOGETHER. The Spirit manifested itself in their uniqueness, while they were TOGETHER. I find hope in this, knowing that although we may experience a sense of loss or isolation, we have/we are companions on this journey. I am grateful to you, for your presence and for riding this storm TOGETHER.
This is the last academic week for the Class of 2021. We pray for their continued growth and appreciation for the gifts they are to one another. We are very proud of their accomplishments, particularly of the effort they have put into their Capstone Project, which is a testament of the formation they have received here at St. Clare. We will share more about their projects soon!
On Friday, the class will gather for their Graduation Retreat. Facilitated by St. Clare Parish Youth Ministers under the guidance of Ryan Bao, their homeroom teacher Mr. Goetz and religion teacher Miss Kim, the students will share some time to reflect, reconnect and enjoy each other’s company before they graduate. The evening will conclude with Msgr. Fran presiding over a family mass. Our hope is that these young people will always remember that St. Clare is their home, no matter where their paths take them after graduation.
Please keep our graduating class in your prayers this week and next.
End of the year reminders will come next week. (They were first featured at last week’s Family News.) For now, let us enjoy a bit of normalcy--not too many reminders for TK-7th grade families this week. Soon, we will share more information about our incoming teachers. Stay tuned for this.
Personally, I am looking forward to our Design-Thinking Workshop on Wednesday. I am most grateful to Baik Hoh for facilitating this opportunity for our teachers. Dr. Rie Kijima and Dr. Mariko Yang-Yoshihara have prepared a workshop that will reframe our commitment to the formation of the whole child in the context of Catholic social teaching. Here’s a BLOG regarding the research that Drs. Kijima and Yang-Yoshihara conducted on STEM education. We are exploring a partnership with these renowned researchers to track the impact of Design-Thinking with a Catholic social justice lens on the formation of our students.
Congratulations to our confirmation candidates, Ryan Bao, their catechists and their parents who have led them to answer the call to be fully initiated into the Body of Christ.
Peace be with you!
