First Day of School FAQ

Here are some frequently asked questions about the first day of school:


Q: Can I walk my student to class?

A: For the safety and security of our staff and students, parents will not be allowed to walk students to class on the first day.


Q: Where do I drop my student off?

A: Car riders are dropped off at Door 5 or 7. Drop-off is not permitted at Door 1.

Q: I didn't pick-up my schedule at Flash Focus (or I lost my schedule) what do I do now?

A: Schedules will be available in the Media Center and can also be viewed via Infinite

Campus.


Q: Where do I drop my lunch money off?

A: Lunch money can be deposited online via PayPAms. Check and Cash can be dropped off in the designated boxes, located near the cafeteria and front office.


Q: Is it a Blue Day, or White Day?

A: July 26th will be a Blue Day.

Over 1160 students visited us over the course of 2 days! Thanks to everyone who stopped by! If you have not received your schedule yet, they are available in Infinite Campus. Our counselors will also be in the media center on the first day handing out any remaining schedules.

NEW!!! Robotics Camp

The East BeastBots Robotics Program hosted its 2nd Annual Robotics Camp this summer. This year's camp focused on robot design, building, programming, and driving. Students also learned about the importance of engineering notebooks, different drivetrains, gear ratios, and lift mechanism.


Throughout the week, we had engineers and high school students mentoring the middle schooler as they built robots from start to finish. Students used their robots for a Vex IQ Ringmaster Scrimmage.


We look forward to tryouts for the 2017-2018 Vex IQ Ringmaster Challenge

NEW!!!! Registration Forms

At this point we have only received 500 of 1270 forms. If you have yet to fill out the existing student registration forms, the information on how to do that is below. Please note that your child cannot be seen by our nurse until these forms are filled out.

All beginning of the year forms (medical, residency, etc) are available to be filled out online. Simply log-in to the Infinite Campus Parent Portal and click registration. Please ensure that you have your Infinite Campus username and password. These are required to fill out the necessary forms.


Infinite Campus login information can be obtained by emailing ichelp@ftcsc.k12.in.us. Additional information on accessing Infinite Campus is below.


All students, whether new or returning, are required to complete this process.

NEW!!!! Back to School Night

Back to School Night is Tuesday, August 8th from 6-8. For our families with multiple children at East, we will once again offer a meet and greet from 5-30-6:00. This will allow you to see teachers you would otherwise miss.


The format for the night is a "A Day in the Life of Your Student." You will be provided a copy of your child's schedule which you will follow that night (your student will bring a hand written copy home on August 7th) . You will spend 14 minutes in each class with 5 minute passing periods between each period.

Text Book Rental

Textbook fees are now live in Infinite Campus, and can be accessed by logging into the Infinite Campus Parent Portal. Textbook fees can be paid in two ways:


1) With cash or check in the front office. PLEASE NOTE THAT WE CANNOT ACCEPT CREDIT CARDS.. Also, textbook rental and other items (such as gym uniforms) cannot be paid for with the same check.


2) With a credit card via RevTrak. Go to: https://ftcsc.revtrak.net , create an account, and confirm your student's information. Instructions for paying student fees can be accessed within RevTrak by clicking Payment Guide. The Payment Guide is also pictured below.

Schedules will be available at Flash Focus. General changes to schedules (music switches as an example) cannot be made.

Gym uniforms can be purchased with cash, credit card, or check. If you are paying by check, please note that gym uniforms must be paid separately from textbook rental. Please confirm that your child has PE before purchasing a uniform.

Free/Reduced Applications

Star Express Child Nutrition Programs is pleased to announce that the application for free and reduced priced meals will be paperless and online for the 2017-2018 school year. Please go to https://paypams.com/onlineapp.aspx to complete and submit your information. The application can be completed via computer, tablet or smartphone. If you don’t have internet access, the district has computer kiosks in each schools’ office or you can contact the Child Nutrition Office at 317-862-2411. Once your application has been processed, you will receive an email notification stating your eligibility benefits and have the option of printing the letter. Note: you will no longer receive an eligibility notification letter from the Child Nutrition Office. Please keep the email or printed letter for your records.

Supply List

Bring your supplies to Flash Focus and get your locker set-up! More information on lockers and decorations can be found on our Flash Fundamentals page. Here are the basics:


***Lockers - Decorating lockers is a big deal for a lot of our students, especially our new 6th graders. When buying organizational and decorative materials please purchase things that magnetically attach to the lockers. Mirrors that stick to the locker, contact paper, and tape should not be used inside or outside of the locker. From time to time we will adhere things to the outside of the locker using painters tape. For organizational shelves, our lockers measure 11”x11” on the inside. Shelves that are too large will jam and possibly damage the lockers.

What does it mean to be PREPARED?

Transportation News

Welcome to another great year with Franklin Township Community School Corporation! You will find bus stop location and time at the FTCSC Transportation website – www.ftcsc.k12.in.us/transportation. On the left there is a tab for Bus Route Information, there will be a link to the routing software. Using the username: guest and password: guest, you will be able to check your student’s bus number, bus stop location and pick up/drop off times. We recommend checking the website for changes the night before school begins. Please keep in mind that these times are still subject to change even after school starts, due to changing enrollment.


There are a few items pertinent to the success of your child riding a FTCSC school bus. First and foremost is to be at the designated bus stop 10 minutes prior to the scheduled bus stop times. Please recognize the bus drivers may be a few minutes late as we start back to school. Learning the routes and traffic patterns can delay route times. Your child can expect to be assigned to a specific seat that is subject to changes as needed. These issues can delay your students’ afternoon arrival times until the routine is established.


FTCSC’s goal is to provide a safe and secure experience for our students. In order to do this, we need to ensure that all students will be picked up and dropped off at a consistent location. If your child will not be needing the bus service for the 2017-2018 school year, please send us an email at transportation transportation@FTCSC.k12.in.us with the name and grade of your student. This allows FTCSC to maximize bus capacity and routing efficiencies. Also, we do not offer bus passes. Please do not send notes to the school, give notes to the drivers, or contact the transportation office with requested changes to pick ups or drop offs. If you have a permanent change to your pick-up and drop-off location please complete the Alt. AM/PM Transportation Pick- Up/Drop-Off form located on the Transportation Webpage. This form must be filled out each school year. Forms require 5 days to process; those received after July 19th will not be processed by the first day of school. Thank you for your understanding in this matter.
