SPRING IS HERE
Career Day at Lincoln
Lincoln’s Career Day was held on March 17, 2022 and it was a huge success. We had former students to come back and talk to our students about their professions, we had Art Norman, NBC news anchor, Motivational/Anti-Bully Rapper - Lizzie G an OB/GYN, Metra Police, Calumet City Police and many others present to our students. We received many compliments from our guests on how well prepared our students were with questions and how engaged they were with each presenter. We also had Prairie State College, Governors State University, Southern University Louisiana, and a Marine participate in our event.
Over $150M in Utility Assistance for Families in Need
Governor JB Pritzker and the Illinois Department of Commerce and Economic Opportunity (DCEO) encourage families in need to apply for utility bill assistance through the Help Illinois Families Program. All families who meet the criteria and provide required documentation are eligible to receive utility bill assistance for natural gas, propane, and electricity through the Low-Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP).
Families should visit www.helpillinoisfamilies.com to apply or call the hotline for real-time assistance in over 30 languages at 1-833-711-0374.
In addition to benefits that are available each year, the $150 million in available funding includes an additional $80 million for the Utility Disconnection Avoidance Program (UDAP) for LIHEAP recipients who are in imminent threat of utility shut-off. This expanded safety net through UDAP is expected to support over 50,000 additional resident accounts currently on ICC utilities disconnect lists across the state.
