School Improvement Council Elections Conclude May 26th! Cast Your Vote Here!
The School Improvement Council (SIC) serves as an advisory committee to a school's principal and faculty. The SIC is composed of representatives of the stakeholder community: teachers, parents, students, members of the business community, a PTSA representative, and the school principal. The SIC meets once a month and has four key functions:
- Work with the school to develop and implement a five-year School Improvement Plan (school renewal plan)
- Assist in implementing the Plan and evaluating the outcomes
- Write the annual Report to the Parents about the progress of the school and SIC in achieving the goals and objectives of the School Improvement Plan
- Write the annual School Report Card narrative
The Dr. Phinnize J. Fisher Middle School SIC is an active, collaborative group that works together for the school and stakeholder community. The SIC was formed during our inaugural 2014 – 2015 school year. Based on the composition and by-laws, there are two (2) open two-year and (1) open one year elected terms for current parents for the 2021 – 2022 school year. Please click here for information on this year's candidates.
On-line voting will be conducted from May 17 – May 26, 2021. Click here to cast your vote online. A paper ballot will be provided for any parent to vote at the PTSA General Meeting event on May 24 -25, 2021, beginning at 5:45 pm. Only parents are eligible to vote and one vote per parent will be tabulated.
Results posted on school website and newsletter on May 28. Please contact SIC Chairperson, Angela Gravley, at angelamoore100@hotmail.com with questions.
