A Message from our principal
Sailor Families,
I hope you have all had a great week even though the wind and weather has been less than stellar. Students throughout the school have been keeping warm by working hard and being leaders. I have observed some wonderful classroom goal setting conversations as well as goals set by individuals. I have also observed students preparing for their conference next week. Below are some key and timely reminders. Please continue to view our newsletter to stay connected.
Parent-Student-Teacher Conferences
Learning is a partnership and students play a key role in that. Next week we have our conferences on Tuesday and Thursday from 4:00 to 7:30. These conferences are 20 minutes and should include a portion where students lead and are celebrated. If you haven’t done so already, PLEASE CLICK HERE to sign-up.
Our Book Fair is taking place at the same time as conferences. We will open up at 3:45 on Tuesday and Thursday.
Boss’s Day Fun
This week, Boss’s Day was celebrated! I am not one for celebrations of things focused on me, but this was something special! Our BH crew secretly connected with my parents to gain access to pictures of me when I was young as well as stories. On Monday morning, before school, an announcement was made for the staff to meet. One by one staff members came to the office dressed in either my favorite team clothing (NMU Wildcats, GB Blizzard, Bears, Packers, Jets, Bay Port, Norway High School, etc.) as well as decorated with recent injuries / surgeries I have had. Fun pictures of me were also scattered around the building for all to see. Throughout the day, announcements were made with the lead phrase, “Did you know….”. The top attention getter by the kids was, “Did you know, Mr. Ebeling put his elbow on a pin cushion when he was 5 and still has a needle in his elbow?” The students were floored by this to say the least. The creativity and care our BH Crew shows on a daily basis is humbling. We are truly blessed as a school and I am incredibly happy to be a part of it.
Have a wonderful rest of the week and we are excited to see you at conferences next week!
Tony Ebeling, Bay Harbor Principal

WANT TO BE A VOLUNTEER AT SCHOOL?
HOW TO BECOME APPROVED TO VOLUNTEER AT SCHOOL
Anyone who wants to volunteer in the Howard Suamico School District must first complete a background check through the district to get approved to volunteer. This includes, but is not limited to, chaperoning on a field trip, helping in the classroom, or helping at one of the PTO Family Fun or other school events.
Please keep in mind that background checks can take as long as three to four weeks to process. Therefore, it is recommended that you complete this process as soon as possible to make sure that you would be approved in time for anything that would come up during the year that you would be interested in volunteering for.
Click HERE for instructions on how to create a Volunteer Profile and to begin the background check process.
Please call the Bay Harbor office at 920-662-8800 if you have any questions.

~GIVING TREE LETTER~
The Giving Tree will be starting to register families for our December Holiday Store. Please reach out to your school social worker if you think your student may benefit from assistance with The Giving Tree. For our generous community, look for information in future district communications about donating to our Holiday Store and volunteering!
This month The Giving Tree is collecting canned tuna and canned chicken. Please feel free to send donations with your students to put in the collections bins/carts near the main office of school or families can also drop donations off during school hours. The Giving Tree appreciates the community support in helping ensure food is not a barrier to a student’s education.
