PTO News
Help us reach our goal for a new GAGA PIT!
Our Rockets are getting excited as we are only 2 weeks away from our Dance-a-Thon on Friday, March 1st! We are raising money for Hoosier Woods, HRE Chicken Coop, and the Kristal Sergi Scholarship Fund. Please assist us by helping your child raise donations. If we reach our goal, the PTO will be donating a GAGA PIT for our playground!
Goal: Raise $12,500 (we have raised $6,500 so far)
When: Friday, March 1st
Where: HRE Gym
Why: Raise Funds for Hoosier Woods, HRE Chicken Coop, & Kristal Sergi Scholarship Fund
Follow these simple steps for success:
1. Register your child by visiting www.thegetmovinfundraising.com and go to “Get Registered Parent Login”.
2. Fundraising will take place now - March 8th
3. Friends and Family want to help your child be successful. Use the student fundraising page to promote online donations.
4. Reach Pledge Superstar status by getting $50 or more in donations and your child will receive a monster backpack clip.
The easiest way to donate is online, but donations in the form of cash or check can be turned into the school also. Please make checks payable to Hoosier Road PTO.
Please see the papers that came home with students for more information and for our fun, school-wide incentives to reach fundraising bench marks.
Thank you for your support!

Fancy Lunch
Calling all 4th graders!
All this snow has us dreaming of spring! Spring means track season at HRE. Ms. Chandler and Mrs. Rattler are excited to put together Hoosier Road’s 4th grade track team! If your 4th grader is interested in participating, please have them see Ms. Chandler for a registration packet. Registration fees increase on March 1, so register early! Happy running!
4th Grade Music Program, Thursday, March 21st
On Thursday, March 21st, at 7:00 PM, our fourth grade students will be performing, "Rock and Roll, How it all Began." The show centers around the rock and roll music of the 1950's. Mrs. Ross is asking all fourth grade students to wear clothing to look like they are from the 1950's. Costumes should be brought to school on March 21st so they may be worn during our daytime dress rehearsal (during school hours).
Here are some guideline/ideas regarding costumes:
- Boys- Jeans, white t-shirts or short sleeved shirt-other optional ideas are leather coats, slicked back hair, cardigans, school letter jacket
- Girls- Jeans, jean capris, solid colored shirts or small patterned skirts, scarves in hair with ponytails, scarves around neck, other optional ideas are poodle skirts and cardigans
- Girls and Boys- Please no shirts with writing on them
****Mrs. Washburn's class is on stage for "Surfin' in the USA". This class may wear shorts and Hawaiian shirts or Beach Dresses (beach wear). No bathing suits please.
Any 4th grade girl, that would like to sign-up will also have a separate musical number with the song Lollipop, by the Cordettes. They would just wear the same costume that they are wearing for their class number. Rehearsals for this will be Fridays, during Smart Start- 8:45-9:15am.
Please be as creative as you would like. Mrs. Ross would prefer the students dress as close to 1950's era styles as possible. Hopefully they will all feel like 1950's rock stars!
If you have any questions, please feel free to call Mrs. Ross at 915-4240 ex. 1837 or email her at rross@hse.k12.in.us.

Volunteers and Lunch Visitors
Hoosier Road Elementary always has many opportunities for parents to become involved. Whether it’s through volunteering in the classroom or a PTO event, attending classroom activities or even eating lunch with your child, you must have a valid background check on file and view the anti-bullying training on-line. Background checks are valid for three years. Please allow up to 6 business days for checks to be completed. Please follow this link for complete directions: http://www.hse.k12.in.us/ADM/parents/volunteering.aspx
We want you to be able to interact with our students but we also need to adhere to strict safety guidelines set forth by our school district. Look for an email from Safe Visitor Solutions which will issue a bar code unique to you. Please bring that bar code (on your phone or on paper) on your first visit to HRE so we may take your photo! Thank you for your compliance and for helping to keep all of our students safe.

Book Donations for Preschool – Library Checkout & Hour of Code
If you are doing any cleaning and notice that you have a lot of board books or books that you are wanting to get rid of please think of donating them to HRE for our preschool program. Students are currently checking out library books and are keeping them at school and I’d love to turn your donations into books that they can take home and enjoy. Thank you for your consideration!
