Kindness Week: Mission Possible!
November 19 to 23, 2018
Each year in November, schools in the province recognize Bullying Awareness and Prevention Week. At Southview, we like to focus on the positive behaviours we want to see from our students rather than on the negative and have chosen to celebrate Kindness Week. Our work in recognizing and celebrating kind, inclusive and respectful behaviours happens every day throughout our school but we are happy to shine a light on Kindness next week by organizing some special school-wide activities and spirit days which are outlined below.
Monday - Mission Possible: Be a Kindness Superhero!
Wear your superhero shirt or cape. Your mission, should you choose to accept it, is to complete random acts of kindness (RAKs) this week to help us reach our school goal of 1000 RAKs! Students and staff will complete a Mission Possible card for each RAK and post it on the wall by the blue stairs so we can track our overall progress!
Tuesday - Peace, Love & Kindness!
Kindness ties us together! Wear a tie, your favourite red/white/pink clothing or come dressed in your tie dye outfit. Your mission today: share your biggest smile with someone you don't know or a friend in need.
Wednesday - Sprinkle Kindness Like Confetti!
Wear a shirt or a hat with a positive, kind, caring message on it. Each student will receive a "confetti" circle that they write a compliment or words of encouragement on. These will be displayed on classroom doors.
Thursday - We Don't Hide From Kindness!
Southview Lynx don't hide from kindness but we do wear camo! If you don't have camo you can wear brown/black/green. Your mission today: invite a new friend to play with you at recess or hang out with you at lunch.
Friday - Pink Shirt Day
Wear pink and help us grow our Kindness Tree! The Grade 6s will "plant" a Kindness Tree in our front hall. Catch someone being kind and acknowledge them by filling out a heart leaf and adding it to the tree. How big will our Kindness Tree grow by the end of the school year?
