Rock and Roll
By Melissa Lucena
How did The Beatles change the face of rock and roll?
They pushed the boundaries of music that no one else had even tried to cross. At the time the music they produced were nothing short of modern. They set trends that are still followed today and they had nonstop creativity until the last album.
What made them so appealing?
Part of their success came from the era of baby boomers becoming teens. This brought economic prosperity into the US, which gave these teens the opportunity to listen and go to The Beatles concerts.
Roots of Rock 'n' Roll
Rock 'n' roll is a form of popular music in the US but it originated from beats in Africa. When people from Africa immigrated to the US, they introduced their music, which then mixed with the music culture here. However, the immediate origin of rock & roll comes from "race" music, also known as rhythm and blues.
