8-Silver Field Trip
Our 8th graders (Silver Team) went to the Lee's Summit Medical Center today where they learned how to place tourniquets, perform CPR, and how to insert a heart catheter and pacemaker. In addition, they got to use a vein finder and an ultrasound machine to find the veins and arteries on their arms. They observed and felt the differences between healthy lungs and a smoker's lungs (the hospital used pig lungs for this demonstration), and they got to "drive" a scope through a melon to learn how nurses and doctors view the inside of a person's lungs. Finally and likely the best part, students got to use a robotic Devinci surgical machine to move a rubber band from one rubber cone to another.
While visiting all of the stations at the hospital, the nurses, techs, and doctors explained the educational process they each took in order to be able to do their jobs as well as their starting pay/salary.
For the first few stations, KMBC Channel 9 news was walking around and filming our students. This was the first time the hospital was allowing children/students into the hospital for a field trip.
Ping Pong Club in Action!
REMINDERS & REPEATED ITEMS
Spring Musical 2024
They're creepy, kooky, and altogether ooky, and they're coming to ETMS this May. Our spring musical will be The Addams Family: Young at Part. Come on out to auditions or apply for a spot on our crew to bring this fabulous family (back) to life.
ETMS Game Show Showdown!
Game show lovers, come on down! For the awards show on the last day of school this year, we need some talented student game show hosts to take teams of ETMS student through rounds of their favorite gameshows for fun breaks between awards. Of course these big shows wouldn't be possible without a talented crew working hard behind the scenes as well, so think about auditioning as a host during talent show host auditions or fill out a crew application.
