Cougar Connection
St. Columba Catholic School - News every Friday - 12/11/20
This was definitely a tough week. News of a second class being affected by COVID-19 was not something any of us wanted to hear, but is the unfortunate reality that we are living in right now.
This week was an especially special week in regards to our Blessed Mother. On Tuesday, we had the privilege of celebrating the Feast of the Immaculate Conception together as a whole school and Saturday, the 12th, is the Feast of our Lady of Guadalupe. During these times of uncertainty, it is always reassuring to know that our Blessed Mother continues to intercede and pray on our behalf. I continue to pray that my faith can be as strong as St. Juan Diego's was! What an inspiration!
We are entering the final week before Christmas break. While this final week will be a little more quiet and empty on campus with our 3rd-5th graders at home, our student council has some fun activities planned to make it a fun week!
Because 1/3 of our students are out, we will have a full school Mass on Tuesday at 8:25am so that 2nd and 6th grade are not the only ones attending that day. There will be no school Mass on Thursday.
Here is a look ahead at the upcoming events on campus:
- Monday, December 14: Ugly or Cute Christmas Sweater Day; Hot Lunch Orders Due; Last Day to Order a Holiday Meal
- Tuesday, December 15: All School (K-2 and 6-8) Mass
- Wednesday, December 16: Spread Christmas Cheer Day
- Thursday, December 17:
- Friday, December 18: Pajama Day; Preschool 1/2 day; K-8 1/2 day, No After School Day Care; St. Columba Trivia and Beer Night (6pm)
Blessings,
Mr. Amann
NO AFTER SCHOOL DAY CARE ON 12/18!
To allow our staff to get a start to their Christmas Break, there will be no After School Day Care on 12/18/20.
All students in Preschool need to be picked up by Noon.
All students in K-8 need to be picked up by 12:30pm.
Christmas Themed Days Information!
Please see the attached flyer from Student Council about the fun days planned this week!
Christmas Program Changes
This week, we had planned to record our students while they wore their Christmas best, but those plans have changed.
Because 3rd-5th grade is not going to be on campus, we would not be able to include them in our planned live-streamed Christmas program.
Instead of a formal Christmas Program, Ms. Lori, Mr. Josh, and Mr. Amann will be recording the students this week and simply sending out the recordings to the respective classes and their families. We will still record our 3rd-5th graders after Christmas break as we will still be in the Christmas season.
While this is certainly a change from years past, COVID-19 continues to have other plans for our traditional activities.
I know we would all love to see every class and enjoy the full community feel of our Christmas program, that is just not possible this year.
Thank you for your understanding!
