Current Research
In 2010, a study found that neurologically normal adults with sickle cell disease scored lower on test of brain function than normal adults without the disease. This was the first study to examine brain function in adults with sickle cell. A second study is ongoing to evaluate the impact on the brain function of adults with sickle cell anemia.
