Big Ben Rings!
The colossal 15 ton, 18 cwt, 22 lb bell now sits in the largest clock tower in the world! It all started with a fire, that destroyed the London Houses of Parliament. The parliament held a contest to see who could design the next one, and they chose Charles Barry.
- Sir Barry then finished the blueprint in 1854.
- He then hired some workers to start the building process.
- The bell cracked 3 times during the building process!

The roman numerals of the clock were also designed by Charles Barry.
The hammer struck the bell within a tenth of a second of the hour.
