Toney Elementary Tiger Tracks
"I Can't Hide That Tiger Pride"
Principal's Message
We have Marched right into April and right into the Georgia Milestones Test for our 3rd, 4th, and 5th grade students. I would like to thank our school community for their participation in March Madness preparations for the Georgia Milestones Test. During the month of March, faculty and staff worked with students on skills and concepts where our students needed improvement. Our students attended SMART Academy and FLP Tutorial, where they worked hard practicing their test taking skills and study habits.
Our students have worked very hard this school year and we want them to be successful. Every Friday, in the month of March and April, Professor Good Tester gives testing tips for our students to follow on WTES. They are:
Make sure to follow directions
Always read and answer and every question
Rest each night before the test
Come to School every day and on time
Have a good breakfast
Parents, please review these testing tips with your students. Most importantly, make sure that your students come to school each day and on time during the testing session. Testing begins Tuesday, April 19th and continues through Thursday, May 6th. We ask that all students be at school before 7:45 am, so testing can start each morning at 8:15 am. If your student would like to eat breakfast before class, they must arrive at school before 7:30 am.
Parents, spring is in the air, and warm temperatures mean our students may become restless. You can help us by reinforcing Toney Elementary School’s golden rule: Follow directions the first time they are given by an adult. Following this rule will limit many disruptions and keep our students on the right track. Also, parents please remember that students should leave all electronic devices at home. Any devices found at school will be confiscated and can only be picked up by a parent/guardian after a conference with Mr. Dean or Mrs. Ross. Also remember that we are a uniform school. Students must follow the school uniform policy Monday through Thursday. They can wear school spirit wear on Fridays. For details about the uniform policy, please see the back page of the newsletter.
Please join us as we motivate our students to do their best on the test at our Georgia Milestones pep rally, Friday, April 14th.
Thank you again for your cooperation and all you do for our students. Most importantly, thank you for your help in achieving our school’s mission: to build a collaborative bridge among home, school, and community that supports the academic and social development of our students.
