IMPORTANT NEWS
8th Grade Parent Night
There's No Stopping our Marching Eagles!
On Saturday Nov. 20 our Eagles Marching Band placed 2nd out of 10 bands in Division B with an 89.75. For the Arcadia Band Review this is a great score. In addition they also placed 2nd for the Seaver Award for the best music score on a John Philip Sousa march. Only the top 2 bands are recognized for this distinction. After the YouTube channel Music 213 did further analysis, we found out we were in the top 10 in Marching and Maneuvering. Overall we ranked 18th out of the 35 bands in attendance, putting us in the top 20. Congratulations, Eagles.

Student Parking Changes
Student parking permissions will be changing and students will now need to register their cars with the school in order to receive a Glenn parking pass. In order to receive a parking pass, students will need a valid driver 's license, proof of insurance, and registration.
Students are being encouraged to start this process now and we will begin enforcing the parking passes at the start of next semester in January. Students will receive a warning the first week that we return from Winter Break. After that, the vehicle could be towed.
More information will be shared with students during our admin zoom announcements and on Schoology. If students would like to get a head start, please bring all of the information mentioned above to the Student Services Office to fill out the Student Parking Pass Form.

ATHLETICS
Feature Student Athlete of the Week
Our FIRST feature student athlete of the week for the winter sports season is Andrea Urena. Andrea is an extraordinarily busy young woman. She is a member of the Tennis and Wrestling teams, but decided that wasn’t enough of a challenge and decided to also test her athleticism in Track & Field. As if three sports wasn’t enough, Andrea is also involved with CSF, ACE, and the Poetry Club.
Andrea hopes to compete in a sport when she attends college, but that isn’t really her priority. She would much rather focus on becoming a social worker at one of her dream schools: USC, Vanderbilt, and Cal Poly Pomona. With a 4.038 GPA and a class ranking of 9, I’m sure she will have many more colleges and universities fighting over her to attend.
Don’t be mistaken because Andrea also has a soft side and she really enjoys knitting and crocheting. She is currently working on a sweater for herself and her next project will be hats for all her teachers and administrators (kidding). If she has a few moments to spare between all of these activities, she also enjoys creative writing and has already written several short stories. Her next project is a short novel.
Glenn HS is very lucky to have Andrea as a student and we are all very proud of all that she is doing and will continue to do in the future. She has a joyful demeanor that will continue to bring joy to others for many years to come. I had a wonderful time just chatting with her to get to know her for this interview. We even imitated what a wrestling match between two T-Rex dinosaurs would look like with their short arms! Keep making people laugh, Andrea, and putting smiles on those around you.
Basketball Wednesdays During Lunch Time
Mr. Beltran will be opening the gates near the ticketbooth to the football field during lunch time so that students can play basketball. We had about 8-10 students take advantage of this on Wednesday. Students are only allowed in the blacktop area ONLY if they are playing basketball. They have to provide their own ball. The area directly in front of the ticketbooth is off limits. If there are any issues with trash, inappropriate behavior, or other concerns then this activity will be canceled. There is no eating in the blacktop area.
Mr. Beltran will try to open the gates up every Wednesday, but sometimes he might not be able to if he has other immediate work obligations or meetings. He will do the best he can to keep Basketball Wednesdays consistent.
