PK3.3 Earth News
20th - 24th April
Hello parents of PK3.3!
This week we have been learning how we can take care of our planet by recycling at home and in our school, and thinking of ways we can help protect the earth and the environment. We talked about what things we can recycle and reuse, and how we can protect the ocean animals by not throwing trash in the water.
Please mark your calendars for our Recycled Art Show on May 22nd. Making children’s wishes come true!
Our young artists have been hard at work, creating various art pieces for our annual fund-raising art show. The children will be exhibiting and selling their artwork to raise funds for the Make-A-Wish Foundation. This year our theme is RECYCLE and through this we be exploring the concepts of environmental responsibility and conservation, also developing empathy for others. We are excited to be supporting the Make A Wish Foundation this year to help make another child’s wish come true. This is a very special day for the children and parents to share time together and enjoy the great pieces of art they have created!
Wishing Bernardo a very happy 4th Birthday!
Looking at Planet Earth!
The children have been exploring our planet in many different ways this week. We examined our globe and identified where we all come from. Marking each childs country and where we are now. It was a great way to show that although we all come from different places we share the same planet.
We worked our finger muscles manipulating plasticine to make our own "Planet Earth" and used our problem solving skills to finish our "Children of the World" puzzle. Great work PK3.3
Fun with recycling.
I spy with my little eye....TOMATOES!
We have been learning how we can care for the earth by planting fruits, vegetables, flowers, and trees. What better place to practice this than our PK garden.
This week we have been caring for our new tomato plants and sunflowers.
Using maths? But I thought we were painting......
Readuce, reuse, recycle. It's easy to do.
Mystery Readers
Thank you to Cira's Dad who visited earlier this week. We really enjoyed listening to Pete the Cat, rocking in my school shoes by James Dean. It's all good!
Another thank you goes to Elena's Mum and Dad who came in to read us a "Frozen" story of friendship and forgiveness. And an extra Ariel mermaid story.
Our rocking chair is always available for new readers!
And there was lots of this........
We used our math skills this week sorting our recycled bottle caps into small, medium and large. We practiced our fine motor cutting skills with old magazines and applied our new recycling knowledge as we sorted our kitchen "trash" in our dramatic play centre.
We finished the week with some relaxing "earth" yoga poses, you can see us practicing our "river" pose below.
