SENIORS NEED TO KNOW...
SENIOR GOOGLE CLASSROOM
Attention Seniors. In your graduating Google classroom, there are scholarships posted. Please check out the scholarships with upcoming deadlines. These are posted under the topics October Scholarship deadlines and November scholarship deadlines.
All of the scholarships currently listed are valued in thousands of dollars. One is even up to $200,000 and most scholarships are offering more than an award.
Do not wait until the night before the deadline as you may need recommendation letters and it is only appropriate to give someone a 2-week window to write you a recommendation letter.
COLLEGE VISITS
Attention Juniors and Seniors:
Are you considering college? Do you have questions about the application process, campus life, specific programs offered by colleges, or just want to gather more information to help you finalize a decision about what college you would like to attend? These inquiries can start right here on our own campus by attending college visits right here on the CHS campus. The following colleges will be visiting the Concord High School campus in the near future: Grand Valley State University, Michigan State University, Eastern Michigan University, and Spring Arbor University. If you want to join others in meeting with the college admissions representatives of any of these colleges, you must sign up in the high school's main office. See the Calendar of CHS campus college visits in your graduating class Google classroom.
PLANT SCIENCE CLASS TAKES ROOT
One of the things that we strive for as a district is to become more student-centered. Listening to student feedback and honoring their voice helps them to become empowered and independent. Over the last two years, we have seen new - student-centered - classes popping up left and right across the district. The latest one at the high school is the plant science class taught by Ms. Colangelo. The student scheduling process really demanded this class be added to the curriculum guide for 22-23, and it was the only class that had to turn students away this year.
The students are learning so much, and they are driving the projects, processes, and areas they are digging deeper into. I had the distinct honor of being a guest at the Plant Science Courtyard open house, and I was AMAZED!!! Our high school students have taken this learning opportunity and transformed our courtyard!! It is now a space that is beautiful and can be used for learning by all of our classes. The amount of work is unbelievable and I could NOT BE MORE PROUD!!! You can tell from the picture below they are pretty proud of themselves too. Plus, the courtyard is now a space that is beautiful and can be used for learning by all of our classes.
Way to go Ms. Colangelo for taking this risk and way to go Plant Science students you are an inspiration. You have reminded me what kids can do if they are allowed to lead their own learning!! THANK YOU!!
