Dear Stafford Elementary Community,
We are coming to the end of April and tomorrow we will only have one calendar month of school left! I can't believe the end is so near. I know it is going to FLY by, so here are a few things to keep in mind for the remainder of April and May!
Thank You
I want to thank Mrs. Groover and Mrs. Rojohn for the excellent work they did during my medical absence. I know they worked hard every day and did a great job in looking after the school. I am happy to be back and look forward to ending the year with all our Dolphins.
Thank you to all the families who checked on me during STEAM Night and Field Day. Your kindness warmed my heart and I appreciate all of you.
Field Day
Our PE teachers and staff would like to thank everyone who volunteered or lent a hand at field day. We were so excited to have the opportunity to have Field Day and having so many volunteers made it run smoothly. The students had such a great time and that could not have happened without you! We hope you enjoyed the experience too.
Lost and Found
It seems like every newsletter has lost and found pictures. This one is no different. Please have your children check the mountain of clothing to see if any of the pieces belong to them. We will be donating all of the unclaimed items to a local charity this weekend. Therefore, please have your child check our Lost and Found if they are missing anything.
SOL Test Dates
The SOLs start this week. Below are the testing dates for each grade level. Please do not schedule appointments on these dates if your child is due to be testing. If students are out for any reason, we will be testing them upon their return, and they will not be with their classroom teacher. Therefore, please do your best to have the children at school on time each day.
- April 26 - Grade 5 Reading SOL
- April 27 - Grade 4 Reading SOL
- May 2 - Grade 4 Virginia Studies SOL
- May 3 - Grade 5 Math SOL
- May 4 - Grade 3 Reading SOL
- May 9 - Grade 4 Math SOL
- May 10 - Grade 3 Math SOL
- May 11 - Grade 5 Science SOL
- May 15-19 - All Grades Expedited Retakes
No Electronics in Testing Rooms
Please know that, there can be NO electronics in the the classrooms while the children are taking the SOLs. This includes but is not limited to cell phones, Apple Watches, Fit Bits, Kindles, tablets, Apple Trackers, etc. At the beginning of the day, the children must leave their backpacks in the hallways and we do an electronics check for any watches, FitBits, etc., before testing starts.
If a child is found to have an electronic device during testing, they will be removed from the testing location and the state must be contacted. Due to the reminders and checks before testing starts, most often the children will be marked as cheating, receive a failing score, and they will not be able to finish their test.
To help us ensure this does not happen, please keep all electronics at home on testing days. If they do bring a phone, remind the children as well, to leave it in their backpack in the hallway. We appreciate your help with this matter.
Expedited Retakes
Students who take the SOLs in grades 3-5, have the opportunity to retake the SOLs they do not pass, if their score is between 375-399. In order to retake the tests, we must have parent permission. Therefore, last week your children were given an expedited retake letter. Parents be sure to mark whether you consent or do not consent to expedited retakes, sign, and return the letters to your child's teacher by April 26.
If by chance you did not see this letter and your child cannot find it, please contact your child's teacher for another copy.
Licensed Job Fair
As you may have seen in Dr. Taylor's Elevate Weekly, there will be a Licensed Job Fair on Wednesday, May 10 from 3-7 p.m. at the Alvin York Bandy Complex (right on Stafford Avenue). If you are interested in teaching in Stafford County next year, please attend this job fair. You can sign up using this link.
Administrative Professional's Day
This Wednesday, April 26 is Administrative Professional's Day. If you are in the building on Wednesday, please stop by the office and thank Mrs. Pauley, Mrs. Kuczka, and Mrs. Mora for all their hard work. They work tirelessly to ensure that our office runs smoothly and everyone who enters the building is warmly welcomed.
Great Learning Adventure
Summer school this year is by invitation only at this time. If your child was invited to join summer school, you would have received an email from your child's teacher with the registration link. If your child received an invitation to summer school and you have not completed it yet, please make sure you do so immediately. We will soon be offering our summer school open spots to those students on our wait list. At that time, it will be a first come first serve basis until we fill all of our open spots.
We look forward to ending this year on a high note!

- Have the children get out of the car on the passenger side only.
For dismissal:
- Please help your child learn their car rider number.
- Remind children to pay attention when they are in the cafeteria listening for their numbers and names.
