Part of Something Bigger
It is a fairly well-known fact that the Plainfield Optimist Club is part of a worldwide volunteer organization know as Optimist International (OI).
Less are aware that Plainfield Optimist Club is a member of the larger Indiana South District (ISD) which encompasses all Optimist clubs in the southern half of Indiana. Member clubs within the ISD gather quarterly to meet and greet fellow Optimists and exchange ideas on better serving the youth of their home communities.
ISD's 2014-2015 1st quarter meeting was held November 14-15 at the beautiful Spring Mill State Park Inn. Plainfield was represented by ten club members, including current ISD governor, Mike Underwood.
Governor Mike discussed 2014-2015 goals and shared an inspiring message from OI president Ken Garner. Break-outs included sessions on membership retention, starting new clubs, and intentional investment in membership growth and club involvement.
Branding is a key element to each of these tasks. First and foremost, we must keep the Optimist mission in front of our community.
The ISD 2nd quarter conference is scheduled at the Hilton Garden Inn hotel in Edinburgh, Indiana, on February 6-7, 2015. We'd love you have you attend and share your "journey of Optimism" with other club members from southern Indiana!
