Cyber Bullying

Bullying of the cyber variety

What is it?

cyberbullying

ˈsʌɪbəˌbʊliɪŋ/

noun

  1. the use of electronic communication to bully a person, typically by sending messages of an intimidating or threatening nature.

"children may be reluctant to admit to being the victims of cyberbullying"

Why is it such an issue in our society today?

It can happen to anyone, at any time, in any place, with anything.. well not necessarily anything but definitely anything to do with the internet and/or social media. 1 million children were victims of cyberbullying in 2015. that's 1 million too many. What's worse is that only 10% of cyberbully victims report online abuse.

Who is most at risk of being Cyber Bullied?

Teenage girls are the biggest denomination of bully victims, they make up 67%; but really anyone can be bullied online either indirectly, by group-think, or on direct purpose. What's worse is that it can be done anonymously.
