Message from the Principal
Dear Central Road Families,
This week, we welcome back our students! Our teachers can’t wait to engage students in academic and social and emotional lessons. All students will begin learning virtually on Wednesday, August 19th. Students should be logged into their Chromebooks at 8:45 a.m. Students in PM kindergarten should be logged in at 12:50 p.m. Please use a District 15 device to access learning.
The Central Road office is open! Our construction is complete and families are welcome to come in. The office staff is happy to help you, Monday-Friday from 8:00 a.m.- 4:30 p.m.
Our theme this school year is flexibility. We will teach, model, and encourage students to be flexible in a variety of ways. During the pandemic, we are all experiencing situations in our lives that are out of our control. Our society is following guidelines to ensure the health and safety of everyone, that are very different from how we have traditionally experienced being in school. Being flexible will be important for our staff, as we continue to make adjustments to our delivery model that will provide students with an optimal learning experience that will be integrated with live teaching, virtual engagement strategies. Students will be asked to be flexible with the new routines, structures, and protocols that they will be asked to participate in during their school routine. Families we are asking for your flexibility as information that is shared with our district is constantly changing. We understand that our communication includes adjustments to families’ schedules. We will work together with the same goal; providing an excellent education for our students.
Teachers will be sharing videos with families on Monday, August 17th. Please show the videos to your child(ren).
Supply pick-up is on Monday, August 17th and Tuesday, August 18th from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. Please bring a pen with you to sign the Chromebook contract. During supply pick-up, we will be selling assignment notebooks for $5.00. Please bring exact change. If you are unable to pay at this time, we will still provide you with a notebook and can collect payment in our office outside of supply distribution. We will be distributing a few additional items. Clever badges will be included in your materials. These cards will be used to log students in grades K-3 into their Chromebooks. Clever Badges are a QR code that students hold up in front of their device to log in. A set of directions will be included with your child’s device. Students in grades 4-6 will receive login information in the form of a District 15 email address and password.
Students will receive a lunch card. This card is for the food distribution sites. Beginning on Wednesday, August 19th, cards will be scanned at the food distribution sites. Students in kindergarten will receive letter cards and a workbook. Students in bilingual classrooms will receive additional resources.
If your child is in out of level math, please provide this information to our staff so we provide you with the correct math book.
Students will be participating in virtual classrooms through Google Meets. Please review the following District 15 guidelines and procedures to access our virtual classrooms.
I am looking forward to a wonderful 2020-21 school year!
Warmly,
Patti Van Winkle
