Blanton Teacher of the Year
Mrs. Branch will be Blanton's nominee for the Denton ISD Teacher of the Year. We wish her all the best as she moves forward in this process. She will be honored at the district level later this spring.
Blanton Community Service Opportunity
January 13th – 31st Blanton Elementary will be collecting Preschool/Infant Items to benefit DentonISD’s Fred Moore Day Nursery School/Fred More at Gonzales School for Young Children.
At this point in the school year these schools tend to run low on certain items needed for the infants and toddlers that they take care of each day.
We would like to help restock their nursery this year!!!
If you would like to donate, please send the following items with your child to school.
There will be boxes available in the front foyer for drop off.
Diapers- sizes 3-6
Wipes
Fitted crib sheets
Formula (all kinds)
baby food ( single fruit and veggies)
disposable sippy cups
bottles
paint brushes with thick handles
teethers (cold to necklaces)
lotion (unscented)
q tips
cotton balls
Blankets for naptime
Thank you for helping our Blanton Knights learn to serve our community!
Community Night of STEAM
Blanton students and staff will be a part of the Community Night of STEAM on January 28 at the Greater Denton Arts Council. We love the STEAM activities we do and skills we build at Blanton and will have the opportunity to share this with our greater Denton ISD community on this night.
What are the goals?
- To provide our students a platform to demonstrate their STEAM knowledge and guide others in completing activities and challenges.
- To allow members from throughout our community to see the fun things that go along with STEAM learning.
- To provide educators the chance to try out new resources, get inspired, and get connected.
- To have fun!!!
We have several groups of 2nd, 3rd, 4th, and 5th grade students who will be leading activities that evening. There are groups from other Denton ISD schools and a TWU group as well! If your student is leading an activity that evening, we will be so excited to see you there! If your student is not leading, we want you and your students to come and join in on the STEAM fun, too! Please see the image below to get more information about this exciting event.
Questions? Please do not hesitate to contact Ms. Krutka at kkrutka@dentonisd.org.

EXPO Referrals for Spring
Denton ISD's program for Gifted and Talented students is called EXPO. Gifted and talented students are those who excel consistently or who show the potential to excel in general intellectual ability, specific subject matter aptitude, and creative and productive thinking. These students require educational experiences beyond those normally provided by the regular school program. Students are identified through the use of multiple criteria specified by our district.
Honor Choir News
Our Honor Choir group of 10 students had their first area practice this week. They practiced along with 60 students from the South side schools of Denton ISD. The students performed a difficult 6th grade level repertoire and represented their schools in their practice and performance. We look forward to their concert on February 21st, 2020 at Ryan High School.
