What we are learning in Room 12...
This is the area of the weekly newsletter where parents/guardians can be informed of what is planned for our week. If your child is ever going to be absent, please let me know in advance if possible, so I can send make-up work with them.
- Math - We learned a strategy called CUBES last week to help us with math word problems! This week, we will begin our next unit about geometry and measurement, Module 4.
- Reading - We will finish our unit about theme by creating "hashtag" theme illustrations. Every Tuesday from now until the AIR test in April will become "Test-Prep Tuesday" and we'll learn how to read passages and answer questions on the test.
- Writing/Spelling - Spelling words are ou/ow diphthongs this week, with a test on Friday. For writing class, we are starting our next unit about informational writing. Your child has chosen a topic and we will start to research it this week. I will send home a notice later when they need to bring in books from home or the library about their topic.
- Science - We have started a new science unit about rocks. This week, we will learn about the three types of rocks and how the rock cycle works. I have included a few video links below.
