Week 30 Recap
Great Start to 4th Quarter
We had a fantastic week coming back from Spring Break, we hope all of you are rested and ready for another great quarter of learning and innovation. Next week our AZSCI testing takes place for all 5th and 8th grade students and the following week we begin AASA testing for ELA and Math for grades 3-8. We appreciate your support in getting all students to campus during this critical testing window to ensure them the best opportunity to showcase all their learning during testing. If your son/daughter has a planned absence during a testing day, please contact their homeroom teacher so we can make arrangements and plan for make-up dates.

5th Grade Math Our 5th graders are working hard in Mrs. Copenhaver's class to prepare for AASA testing. | Anti-Bullying Our 6-8th Grade students had an anti-bullying presentation delivered by the Arizona Attorney General's Office on Monday morning. | APEX Slime Mr. Galietti was slimed today as the reward for raising over $100,000 during our APEX Fundraiser. |

Mindful Monday
Mindfulness Activity of the Week: Watch a Sunset or Sunrise
One day this week, take the time to watch a sunset or sunrise. There are few things more present than the feeling of watching a day start or end. Aside from its natural beauty, the sunset is also a great reminder that each and every day offers us a new end and a new beginning. Peacefully enjoy the vibrant colors and spirit of the sun and leave your to-do lists and worries out of the moment.
Instrument Fitting Night
If your student is currently in band and is looking to switch instruments, they must attend this event so we can finalize their switch. All students who will be starting band next year are REQUIRED to attend one of these two nights. I will be there to answer any other questions you may have. We will also have Milano Music on site to help you with all rental and equipment needs for the following year! If you have any questions, please reach out to me at benjamin.lynch@dvusd.org. Thank you and I hope to see you at our fitting night!

Battle of the Books
Congratulations to Team 2 members Krosby Kerger, Cooper Ekstrom, and Wesley Tuttle for placing first in Sierra Verde's Battle of the Books!
It was a tough last battle Thursday and our second place Team 6 battled hard. Congratulations go to our second place winners, Alyse Holm, Caden Christensen, and Kayson Engle for their tremendous effect!
3rd place went to Team 3 members Henry Barclay-Comstock, Grant Matthews, Grayson Teel who tied with Team 1 Ashley Goff, Fiona Li, and Jason Jumanan.
All six teams should be proud of their hard work, effect, and grit they demonstrated this year in Battle of the Books.
Good luck to Krosby Kerger, Cooper Ekstrom, and Wesley Tuttle as they prepare to represent Sierra Verde in the district competition in April!
Until next year,
Coach Olofson and Coach Eberhardt
