A Note from the Principal

Dear SPB Families,

Please keep our eighth graders in your prayers this weekend as they receive the sacrament of Confirmation on Sunday at 1:30 p.m., being sealed with the gift of the Holy Spirit and strengthened for service to the Body of Christ.

On May 7 at 1:00 p.m., our second graders will celebrate the sacrament of Holy Communion. We hold them in prayer as they prepare their hearts to receive Jesus for the first time.

Finally, on Monday, May 1 you will see a new face in the office working alongside Mrs. Lipstreu. I want to officially welcome Ms. Angela Pucella who will serve as our Administrative Assistant next school year. She will be us through the end of the year as Mrs. Lipstreu shows her the ropes. Be sure to introduce yourself to her when you visit the office.

Peace and blessings,

Diane Raguz, Principal

A Spring Camping Concert (Gr. 4-6)

map testing-april 24-may 12

From April 24 to May 12, students in grades K through 8 will complete the third and final MAP® Growth test from NWEA®. We give students MAP Growth tests to determine their instructional level and to measure academic growth throughout the school year (and from year to year) in Math (K-8), Reading (K-8), and Language (3-8). There is no preparation for these assessments besides making sure your child has plenty of rest and a good breakfast throughout the testing period of April 24 to May 12. As in the past, following the testing period, you will receive a report showing your child’s growth throughout this school year.

OPTIONAL SEASONAL UNIFORM BEGINS ON MAY 1

Beginning on May 1st, students are permitted to wear the optional seasonal uniform. We have included it below.

Walking Shorts: Navy or khaki walking shorts purchased from Schoolbelles; no more than 2” above the knee

Shirt: Navy blue, hunter green, or white polo shirts with school logo

Shoes: Uniform shoes (grades 1-8) or tennis shoes (kindergarten)

Socks: Plain white or navy crew socks

SPB Talent Show

Attention all SPB Stars! We will hold a special TALENT SHOW on Wednesday, May 24th! Each homeroom will choose one act to be part of our school-wide TALENT SHOW. (Grades 4 and 8 can choose two acts!) Talent acts include singing, dancing, playing a musical instrument, comedy, juggling, and anything that makes you stand out! Each act should be no longer than 5 minutes and can be a solo or a group act. Auditions will be held during an assigned date decided by your homeroom teacher the week of May 1st - May 12th. There will be a MANDATORY DRESS REHEARSAL on MONDAY, MAY 22nd from 2:30-4:00 pm if you’re chosen to be part of the show. GOOD LUCK!

Talent Show Information

  • Talent Show auditions will be held by homeroom. Each homeroom teacher will choose a date between May 1st - 12th to hold auditions during the school day. Anyone is eligible to audition. One act per homeroom must be chosen. Grades 4 and 8 will pick two acts because of only having one homeroom. Your child's homeroom teacher will announce when auditions will be held in their classrooms.

  • Acts can be solo or in a group. There is no limit to how many students can be in a group.

  • Acts include singing, dancing, playing a musical instrument, juggling, or anything that makes a student stand out. If singing a song or dancing to a song, be sure that the music chosen is APPROPRIATE! If you are singing, you need to provide karaoke music and not a song with someone already singing on it or have an accompanist. Students will bring whatever props/music is necessary. *A digital copy must be sent to Mrs. Cross. If a digital version is not available, please create your own CD.

  • Acts should not be longer than 5 minutes.

  • Students must sign up before auditions are held. Students must submit the “Audition Form” to their homeroom teacher so teachers can plan accordingly. A parent's signature is required.

  • Costumes or a special appropriate outfit should be worn during auditions. Make sure you are PREPARED!

  • There will be a MANDATORY DRESS REHEARSAL on MONDAY, MAY 22nd from 2:30-4:00 pm if you’re chosen to be part of the show.

  • Those who are chosen to be part of the show may invite their parents and grandparents to see the show on Wednesday, May 24th at 1:00 in O’Brien Hall.
