Jaguar News
Volume 1, Issue 27 - March 9, 2018
Today our students had the opportunity to experience many different cultures and diversities during their day. Students were able to see live dancing from the countries of Mexico and China, see a presentation by a Fulbright Scholar from South Africa, experience the traditions and flavor of France and Japan, and hear about being accepting of one another and appreciate everyone’s diversities. In addition, our Japan speaker spent the afternoon meeting with our 6th graders to teach them some origami, and Miss Missouri, Jennifer Davis, hung out with the FACS classes and joined the AVID classes to talk about what their futures hold. Please ask your student what they enjoyed most about our Multicultural week!
CMU Music Fest
The Band had an incredibly successful day in Fayette with our 7th and 8th grade band students on Friday. The students represented Gentry very positively both with their behavior and their performances for judges. This was the first ever adjudicated event for 7th grade band students, and 8th grade students who attended did so of their own choosing and did all of the preparation outside of class. We totaled 21 entries on the band side and are very proud of the results the kids produced! Ratings for this music festival are identified as:
1 – exemplary
2 – outstanding
3 – satisfactory
4 – developing
5 – ineffective
Of our 21 entries, our rating breakdown was fifteen 1 (exemplary) ratings and six 2 (outstanding) ratings.
The teachers promised the kids they would ride the carousel at the mall after lunch if all 7th grade groups received a 1 rating. Hence, carousel pics!
Thank you for your continued support that makes days like Friday possible for our students!
