Fall is in the Air!
As I reflect on these past few months, I continue to feel lucky to have been chosen to lead this building alongside Mr. Orscheln, who is also making a difference every day!
Very Truly Yours,
Dr. Marchetti

Art - Mrs. Aeschliman:
Happy fall EHE families! We have had a great start to our school year. K-2 students have been using their drawing supply caddies for several weeks and are beginning to use the collage caddies now. 3-5 graders have been using drawing center supplies and are also now being introduced to the supplies found in the collage studio. 6th grade 2D art has been working on earning badges for their artwork. It’s like a choice board so they can choose what projects they make so everyone is doing something different.
We are using Artsonia again this year for students’ portfolios. You should have received an email from Artsonia about how to login for your student(s) account if you are new to Artsonia. If you didn’t get an email from Artsonia, I don’t have a good email of yours to give to them. Email me at aeschlia@smithville.k12.mo.us and let me know what email you prefer, your students name, and teacher, and I will get it entered into Artsonia as soon as I can. Artsonia is very private with only their first name and a number assigned to them online. No private identifiable information is published online and you can see your students’ work, along with visiting the gift shop and purchasing products that have your students' work printed on it. If you signed up last year, you don’t need to sign up again, it will roll over to this year. Artsonia is an amazing company that also offers you the option to invite other family members (think grandparents, aunts, uncles, cousins, etc.) to become a part of your student(s) fan club, so even if they do not live nearby they can see what is being created at school!
I do have an Amazon wish list for EHE because the yearly budget only affords me the very basics in art supplies. If you would like to help support our art studio and the EHE artists go to my wish list here: https://www.amazon.com/hz/wishlist/ls/TAO5QQQYZRM2?ref_=wl_share
THANK YOU so much for all of your support! You are an amazing school to work for!
Sincerely,
Ms. Aeschliman

Innovation Lab: with Mrs. Thompson
Greetings from the innovation lab!
We have been busy jumping into our first units and projects. Your students are becoming engineers and programmers right before my eyes.
Preschool through first grade has been working on thinking outside the box with their creations. They have turned a boring stick or plain square into works of art. Second graders are getting ready to start their programming unit. They will learn how to program gaming characters and debug lines of code. Third, fourth and fifth graders are working on some design projects. The third graders will be creating a robotic boat. Fourth graders are creating their own BattleBot armor for our battle coming up next week. Fifth graders are finishing up their tiny home projects. The finished design projects will be displayed at conferences. I will have them set up in the collaboration space (fishbowl) in the main hallway. Be sure to swing by to see some of your childrens’ work.
As always, we love donations of any kind. We are in need of plastic cups, plastic lids of any shape or size and styrofoam. Thank you for saving your recycling and sending it in with your kids. We go through a lot of recycled materials.
Music: with Mr. Venner
Eagle Heights Music Notes
The good times keep coming in the music room at EHE! Kindergarten through fifth grade all have completed one round of ukulele instruction. K,1,2 & 5 will be learning new and challenging music games. Third and fourth grade students are preparing for their Music night at the PAC on December 1 at 7 pm. Sixth graders will be exploring bass, drums and guitar. There is a small group of the 6th graders who have been teaching music games to groups of kindergarten students (15 at a time) and they would make great teachers some day.
P.E. with Coach Parker
Physical Education- With colder winter weather right around the corner make sure to have your student bring the correct PE shoes to school. Have your student pack an extra pair of gym shoes in their backpack if they are going to wear boots to school. Gym shoes are much easier on the hardwood floor than boots. K-1st graders have continued to work on their spatial awareness with different balance, tag, locomotor games. They have continued to work on different locomotor movements (skip, gallop, slide, bear crawl) through different games in PE. They have also worked on their throwing and catching recently. 2nd-6th graders are about to start their indoor soccer unit and are learning how to dribble, pass, and kick properly. Students are getting ready to do their first round of fitness testing for the year (pacer, situp, sit and reach, pushup test). In PE, we will continue to use teamwork, sportsmanship, and focus on trying our hardest to achieve a goal.
Library with Mrs. Rice
The Eagle Library is loving all of our readers this month! Eagle students are definitely reading! Families can help at home by encouraging your child to spend 20 minutes a day reading and be great reading role models.
This month, students have learned more about book care expectations, heard more about our yearly reading incentives and celebration in March 2023, and celebrated Hispanic Heritage Month with titles about influential authors, artists, and leaders, especially those who helped to create libraries and share stories of their culture.
In October, the Eagle Library will once again host our Pumpkin Character Contest. Students who wish to participate can find all the contest information here. We will accept pumpkins the week of October 17th- October 21st. Voting will take place on the 24th and 25th, and families are invited in during Parent Teacher Conferences to see all the great creations and take pumpkins home. Winners will be announced on October 31st. First place will win a $15 Book Fair Voucher. Second place will win a $10 Voucher for the Book Fair, which will be here in November!
The Scholastic Book Fair will be here in the month of November! The dates are November 3rd-11th! If you are wanting to volunteer during the school day or on Eagle Heights Shine Night which is November 10th from 5-7 PM, please let me know by emailing me at ricel@smithville.k12.mo.us
Happy Reading!
