The Home Stretch...
It is so hard to believe that this is the final newsletter of the school year! It seems like such a short time ago we were welcoming our students on the first day of school in a virtual setting. It has been a wonderful school year and our students have made tremendous adjustments!
It is very important that our students continue to work hard on academics through the end of the school year. May and June have some great opportunities for learning and we want all students to take full advantage. We look forward to the last weeks of school with all of you. Please continue to keep solid routines at home as we come down the home stretch.
A special thanks to you, the parents who have contributed in ways small, large and unimaginable! Thank you for the partnership between home and school, which is so important. We appreciate all that you do each and every day for our school and our children!
Together, we’ve learned much and shared experiences that will remain in our hearts for years to come. The passion and strength within our community makes our school truly a special place for our children and a place that I am not only extremely proud to lead, but also one that I can call HOME.

All AISD facilities continue to operate within COVID-19 response guidelines aligned with the Texas Education Agency (TEA). The district will thoroughly clean, disinfect, and inspect all potentially exposed areas and equipment as well as common areas around the building.
Front Office Reminders
Visitor Information:
Safety is our priority! Prior to entering the school, the Alief ISD Health Screener must be completed and a mask must be worn appropriately covering the mouth and nose. You may complete the screener by clicking on the link below or scanning the QR code located on the front doors. **Once you have completed the health screener please call 281-988-3200.
We are monitoring the number of visitors in the office, please note you may be asked to wait in the front (outside of the front office) until room is available. In addition, please do not enter the school if you have been diagnosed with COVID-19 or exhibit symptoms. Please call the school.
Item Drop Offs:
This is a reminder that items are NOT allowed to be dropped off during the day. This includes lunches, water bottles, homework, jackets, birthday treats, etc. Students should bring their lunch with them or a lunch will be provided by the cafeteria. It would be a good idea to encourage your students to help you by making sure they have everything they need in the morning the night before.
Reminder...State of Texas Assessments of Academic Readiness (STAAR)
To safeguard your child’s success on STAAR, please do the following:
- Make sure your child arrives on time to school after a good night’s rest
- Eat a good dinner the night before and a good breakfast the morning of testing
- Encourage your child to do his or her personal best; this can improve your child’s self-confidence which will lead to better performance

How to Keep Kids Healthy and Fit this Summer
Summertime is right around the corner! While the break is well deserved for your students, it is important to stick to a balanced routine. A well-balanced routine includes limited screen time, healthy meals, outdoor physical activities, and a good night's rest.
- Focus on Food: Be careful with leaving junk food readily available for kids. Be on the lookout for meal pickups from Alief Nutritional Services
- Find a New Routine - Check out free or low cost activities at local parks, libraries, etc ... to fill the day
- Be Serious About Bedtime - a sleep routine is still important for growing bodies and brains! Try to stick to a bed time and turn off screens an hour before bed
- Get Outside and Get Active - Set a time every day when you all take a walk, ride bikes, play tag in the backyard, jump rope, play soccer, dance, or swim. It all adds to the 60 minutes of activity kids need every day -- no matter what season it is.
A Message from Budewig's Library
It has been a pleasure managing the library; I have truly enjoyed working with each teacher, parent, para-educator, and most of all our students. As the librarian, my passion seeks to ignite your love of learning. I hope I did just that with my Breakfast Bunch and Zoom Library sessions.
Enjoy your summer! Read to Live!

2020-2021 Dress Code
Budewig Uniform Policy: Due to many families suffering an economic hardship the last thing I or anyone from Budewig wants is to put any further stress on our families’ pocketbooks. For the 2020-2021 school year we will not require our students to wear a school uniform. They must however still follow all district policies in regards to appropriate attire, hair, shoes, and accessories. Uniform policy can be found on page 22 in Alief Student Handbook.

In order to ensure the health and safety of all students and staff when attending in-person instruction, students are required to wear a mask.
