A Few Reminders
Tardies: Our academic day starts at 7:40 AM. Students need to be in their classroom seats, and ready to learn at 7:40 AM. Now that the winter weather is here, students need additional time in the morning to secure their winter wear in their lockers. Several students have been marked tardy because they are still in the hallway at 7:40 AM instead of their classroom.
AM Drop Off: Parents, please close all large gaps between cars when entering one of the two drop-off zones. Whether you are dropping off in front of CMS or in front of the BOE office, as soon as your car is stationary students should exit the vehicle. The drop-off zone in front of the BOE starts at the end of the sidewalk. We need to utilize that entire space. It is a brief walk into our warm building, and we have staff members outside for 15-20 minutes every morning supervising drop-off. Our system is very efficient when the rules are consistently followed.
PM PICK-UP: PERFECT, DO NOT CHANGE A THING!!!
Winter Recess: As the weather turns colder, please encourage your child(ren) to dress accordingly. Across the district, we go outside for recess whenever it’s not raining and the real feel is above 20 degrees. Thanks to the generosity of PTO, CMS will have sleds available soon for when there is snow on the ground. Students in grades 4 and 5 MUST have snow pants on in order to use the sleds. All students are encouraged to have LABELED boots, hats, and gloves every day. Students are permitted to leave boots on the floor at their lockers, and snow gear should be in a shopping bag that can hang from the locks by their lockers.
MAP Testing
Teachers review MAP data collectively during data digs and individually throughout the year as needed. MAP tests help teachers get a sense of students' academic strengths and weaknesses and inform how they should best adjust instruction throughout the year to better match student needs.
