Newsletter - Term 1 Week 1

From the Principal
Kia ora koutou,
Week 1 down and all the students have got off to a great start. The classrooms are settled and students getting stuck into their routines. With swimming over the next two weeks, students will be tired. It's important that they get plenty of rest and early nights.
Get to Know You Conferences
There are still plenty of spaces available to book in a time for the Get to Know You Conferences. Some people may not be booking in because they know the teacher or have had a child taught by that teacher before. Remember, the point of the conferences is for the teacher to really understand the child and how he/she learns best, what he/she is interested in and to discuss any concerns you may have for the year. Please click the link below if you haven't registered yet.
Touch Rugby
We have had over 70 registrations for touch rugby this term - which means we have half the school involved in touch rugby (amazing effort). There is still time to register your child over the weekend. I will put the teams together early next week and on Wednesday send out the team list via the school app.
I would imagine we won't get the draw for the first game until next Friday so we will look to put that out in next week's newsletter.

School Notices
Friday School Lunches
These will start on Friday 24th February. New menu will be available soon.
Heat Ups
Lunches are able to be heated in the pie warmer each day. Please send lunches either wrapped in tin foil or in a container that can be placed in the warmer. Please make sure they are named.
Breakfast Club
This will be starting again on Monday. Anyone is welcome to come along to have breakfast in Room 1 before school.
Swimming - Lost Property
We have a box in the office with misplaced items from the swimming pool if your child is missing anything!
Newsletter
This is sent out every Friday as a digital Newsletter - available on the School App or on our school Facebook page. If you would like it emailed please let Julie know. Printed copies are also available at the office.
Absences
Please make sure you contact the school if your child is absent. This can be done by:
- Contacting your child's teacher
- Phoning the office
- On the school App
- Emailing
Please make sure you give a reason for the absence as the Ministry require this otherwise it will be a unexplained absence.
Cyber Safety Agreements / BYOD
Your child will bring home the school cyber safety agreement for you to sign and go over with your child. The agreement needs to be signed and returned to your child's class teacher for them to keep on file.
If your child is bringing their own device to school then they will also have another form that will need to be completed and returned to school. Please contact your child's class teacher if you have any questions relating to children bringing their own device to school.
Scholastic Book Club
Book Club orders are ordered and paid for online. The school receives 15% of all book sales, which we use to buy new books for our library.
The first pamphlet will arrive home with your child soon.
TENNIS COACHING
Hey team, taking names for tennis coaching this term. We are VERY lucky to have Sky back on board!!!! Harrison and Leo will be taking beginning tennis players under the supervision of Sky.
Coaching will begin Wednesday 15th Feb. Seven sessions $70 per child. Sky will be away two weeks competing in Godzone. (we will have alternative coach)
Post in the Western Tennis Facebook page, child’s name, age, general ability if you would like coaching for your child. If you need a specific time slot I will try and accomodate you.
