Note from the Principal
Hello Elmwood Students and Families!
This Monday is our big Costume Walk-a-Thon!! No Masks and No Weapons Allowed👻 Weather permitting, students will be walking around the block starting at 1:30 PM: California to Alice to Alger to Malvern to California. Parents are more than welcome to come see their kids walk outside.
There is still time to donate to our walk-a-thon to help us reach our goal!! Click the link to donate to our Walk-a-Thon.
Thank you to our amazing parent volunteers!! You are greatly appreciated 💛 If you are interested, we are looking for noon monitors to hire and/or volunteers to help us supervise our students during lunch and recess. Please click here to sign-up. Remember to come in and fill out the parent volunteer form prior to coming.
Based on popular vote the Michigan Stage after school program has been cancelled this coming Monday, October 31st🎃 Over the past few weeks these students have devised some seriously silly stories about haunted homecomings, trick-o-treating gone awry, forever detention, protests at the white house, and adventures to gain immortality! A performance is coming the week of December 5th and we can't wait to see all their creativity.
We have a new Character Trait! This coming month we will be focusing on GRATITUDE 😍 Check out the Character Strong section for the newest family newsletter(s) to continue the conversation at home.
There has been a calendar change. Please note that November 14th is now a half day with dismissal at 11:45 AM. In the Upcoming Events section you will find the newest Elmwood Calendar.
Cold weather is coming ❄️ Please make sure that students have a warm jacket, hat and gloves. We go outside for recess unless the temperature is below 20 degrees and/or it is rainy.
Warmly,
Mrs. Bowersox, Ed.S 💛💙

Getting to School
Drop Off and Pick Up Reminders
- We want to encourage our students and families to cross California and the surrounding streets safely. It is important to use the crosswalks and crossing guards available.
- It helps the flow of traffic if your child is ready to exit the car.
- Parents should stay in the car, to keep the drop-off line moving!
- There is NO Parking, dropping and/or stopping in front of the school on California. When this is done it prevents the busses from traveling safely and it causes quite a jam. There are signs up and police will ticket persons who are there.
- The front loop is ONLY for Busses.
- Parents may use the West Parking Lot/Loop to Stop and Drop their student(s).
- Parents may park on Malvern on the East side of school and/or on Alice on the West side of the school to walk their student to their entry door.
Lastly, please be mindful of school hours and do not drop off your children prior to 8:15. At 8:15 there should be a staff member outside to supervise them. 💛💙
Absences and/or Late Arrivals
If your child will be absent or late, please contact the office to let us know. You can either call the attendance line @ (586-435-1150) or email Ms. Baker. When leaving a message, please state the child's name, teacher's name, date of absence and reason for absence (i.e. child is ill with fever, cough, etc.)
Be sure to order a Hot Lunch if they will be late and need a lunch. Orders must be in by 8:50 AM Thank you!!
