Throughout the nation health studies have shown links between air pollution and respiratory health conditions. Over the past few years air pollution has increased and linked to decreases in lung function and increases in heart attacks. The more coal plants they build or any type of plant that can cause air pollution will cause an even bigger increase in heart attacks and even more decreases in lung functions.

Being exposed to traffic pollution has been linked to many health affects including: Exasperation of asthma symptoms, diminished lung functions, and adverse birth outcomes. Also in the United States air quality and public health in the United States are exposed to particle pollution, the main part of smog, and ground-level ozone affecting the health of of everyone exposed to it, and were all around car pollution everyday. Even though in the last 20 years the quality of air has improved, urban areas are still a very big concern. Both the elderly and children are extremely vulnerable to the effects of air pollution.
