No Spectators...Yet
Hopefully, all of our student-athletes are settled into distance learning and getting the hang of attending classes virtually. It is a challenge for sure. As we navigate these uncharted waters together, here is an update on some key items:
Some competitions or scrimmages in certain sports have been scheduled and will be played in the coming months. For others, competition against other schools is still far away. When competitions do happen prior to OSAA official games starting in January, the North Santiam School District has made the decision to not have any fans in attendance. The reason for this is really twofold. First, these are unofficial games allowing our kids to compete with other schools. No championships or league titles are on the line. It is simply giving our athletes a chance to compete. The second reason is we, as a school district, are doing everything we can to prevent the spread of COVID-19. The more people in attendance at any given event, the more likely it is that someone contracts the virus.
All spectators will be prevented from entering the baseball or softball fields or the football stadium where games will take place. Fans may stand outside the facility behind the fences, but even that might be limited if too many people show up and social distancing is not possible. We know you want to see your kids play; we want that as well. To give us the best chance of having sports seasons happen as planned starting in January, we are doing what we can to keep the number of coronavirus cases in our area to a minimum. We are working on live streaming any game action, but there is no guarantee that will be up and running right away. Thanks to the generosity of our Booster Club, starting in January, all games in the gym or at the stadium field will be available for viewing online. If you have any questions regarding district policy around athletics, please contact Athletic Director Darren Shryock at darren.shryock@nsantiam.k12.or.us or 503-769-2171.

Athletics Registration is Easier Than Ever
We are excited to announce that we are now offering the convenience of online athletic registration through FamilyID (www.familyid.com). FamilyID is a secure registration platform that provides an easy, user-friendly way to register for our programs and helps us to be more administratively efficient and environmentally responsible. When you register through FamilyID, the system keeps track of your info. You enter your information only once for each family member for multiple uses and multiple athletic programs.
IF YOU HAVE ALREADY REGISTERED ON PAPER: Your student does not have to register again. You may receive an email within the next few weeks from FamilyID asking to complete your student’s account.
