SHISD Mid-Week Message
Promoting Great Things in a Great School District
October is Principals Month!
Mrs. Turner was named Principal of the Primary School in May of last year. She has done an outstanding job, turning the campus into a very positive learning environment and a welcoming environment for parents. Her impact on teacher morale was instant. Combined with a new assistant principal, Mrs. Williams, and a new counselor, Ms. LaGrone, SH Primary is set to have a tremendous year. Mrs. Turner taught at our Primary campus before working in administration at Pine Tree ISD and Sabine ISD. She returned last year and served as an assistant principal before being named principal. Mrs. Turner has been married to her husband for 20 years and her son Camden is a 7th grader at SHJH. Below is a note from her office staff
- Deanna is an amazing leader! She is always positive, energetic, loving, supportive and always ready to help in any way possible. The students are her first priority, and she makes our parents feel welcome. Staff are greeted with a smiling face each morning and she makes us feel appreciated and want to come into work every day. Her endless energy to run this very busy campus is impressive. Deanna makes Spring Hill Primary a wonderful school for the children and staff. We love her!
Thank you Mrs. Turner for the impact you have on the teachers and students of SHISD.
Kudos
- Kudos to Michelle Malloy and the entire Primary staff for embracing technology and having Mrs. Malloy come into your rooms and teach technology to your students!!
- Thanks to David Lynch and Mike Moore at the Jr. High. I received a parent call telling me how encouraging and positive these two men have been in working with a student who struggles with anxiety. The parent was very appreciative and told me I have two great administrators at the Jr. High. ~ Steve Snell
- Please keep high school teacher Guy Fuller in your thoughts and prayers. His better half had surgery to repair a valve in her heart. I spoke with Mr. Fuller this week and her recovery is progressing.
- Coach Hardin's wife fell through a window at home and severed the tendons in her arm. Please keep her in your thoughts and prayers.

Great Extension Activity by SHIS Student!
A student in Mrs. Darby's homeroom came up with this funny rap as one of his vocabulary extension activities! We are so proud of him!
The following vocabulary is from the book Frindle by Andrew Clements. See if you can hear some of this great vocabulary in Atley's rap: crimson, mastermind, rebellion, emphasized, primly, preliminary, fad, commotion, endures, abruptly, acquainted, acquired, graduated, forbidden, concrete.
