Welcome Back From Break—Hope you had a great week!
We hope you have a wonderful spring break!
It will be busy for the next two months. Below are important events and dates for all that will take place!
Future Events
M-Step Testing Begins for 5th Grade in April and for 6th Grade in May
The month of April will be filled with tests for the 5th grade students.
Science and Social Studies will take place the week of April 8th--this week.
They will take Language Arts Tests the week of April 15th.
They will take Math Tests the week of April 22nd.
The 6th Grade Students will take the M-Step Test beginning the week of May 6th.
Math M-Step will be taken the week of May 6th
Language Arts Tests will be taken the week of May 13th.
Please send students with their water bottles that can be filled at the fountains in school.
A good night’s sleep and breakfast are two things that could help students to focus during this testing window.

After School Activities
Running Club:
Monday, Wednesday, Friday beginning on April 8 and ending on May 8. 2:30-3:30 PM
Game Club: Sign-up takes place all year long up to the last meeting date.
Next dates coming up: April 9th, April 23rd, May 7th.
Students play board games, checker, chess and if students interested in Rubik’s Cube would like to join in this time, bring your own cube and meet on the planned dates as well.
Art Club: Sign-up takes place all year long up to the last meeting date.
Next dates coming up: April 16th, April 30th, May 14th.Forms for all of these activities are in the information rack by the office, on the Pine Street Web Page and the PSFA and Pine Street FaceBook Pages. K-Kids: Sign-Up Window has Ended Next dates coming up: April 18th, May 2nd, May 16th.
Pine Street Fundraiser Begins April 15th
Wayland Intermediate PTO will kick off their annual fundraiser April 15th. The forms and money will be due Tuesday, April 30th to your child’s homeroom teacher.
The WIPTO and Pine Street Staff and Students thank you for your support with this fundraiser. In the past, money raised students are now provided after school intramurals, game club and art club. The PS News has been given items to better help them present our video news, books have been purchased for teacher classrooms, as well as so many other things that impact our students daily.
6th Grade - Please Complete Music Selection for 7th Grade
A sign-up sheet will be been sent this week (week of April 8th), to be completed electronically, for all 6th grade students to indicate if your child will take band, strings/orchestra, choir, or if they do not want to take one of these classes indicate that they will not be in a music class for the 2019-2020 school year. Please choose one of the following as this will be used to set a schedule for your child for the upcoming school year.
Past Events
5th and 6th Grade Students visited the Middle School
The week before spring break, 5th and 6th Grade Students traveled to Wayland Union Middle School to get a first look at where they will be in the 2019-2020 school year. They toured the building led by middle school student guides and then were provided a presentation and question and answer session with the Middle School Principal and additional office staff.
5th Grade Provided Music Selection Opportunities for 2019-2020 School Year.
The week of March 25th the Pine Street 5th grade students were presented with choices for music classes for the 2019-2020 school year.
The 5th grade attended a 6th grade concert on March 25th to see what there first year of learning would look like in the respective music classes. They also were able to see a mini-concert the afternoon of March 27th put on by the Wayland Union High School Orchestra, Band, and Choir Classes. This allowed students to see the progression that takes place after several years in the programs.
5th grade students were able to test out band and orchestra instruments in order to help them make a decision about what music class they would like to take as a 6th grade student. Music fittings took place at Pine Street on Thursday, March 28th.
