Interact Club - Relay for Life
Have you heard of Relay for Life (RFL)? It is the biggest fundraising organization for cancer research, treatment, and support in the country. Relay takes on many different forms across the country and raises millions of dollars, but since Covid, participation in RFL has dropped while the number of cancer cases has dramatically risen.
We are trying to accomplish two big goals with our final event of the year. We want to hold a festival near the end of the school year, that would include not just the relay aspect of Relay for Life but a carnival/festival atmosphere. Our Interact Club plans to partner with the RHS Interact Club and try to bring back the momentum of Relay for Life that our community had years ago. Cancer has not slowed down with Covid, but the fundraising took a nose dive that has been hard to recover from. We know it has affected so many people even in our small community of Roswell. The American Cancer Society/ACS is in dire need of funds and fundraising to continue the research and support of those dealing with cancer.
We also know that our students loved the festivals that their elementary schools put on every year, so much that they would go back to them even after they left elementary school. We are hoping that this festival for Relay for Life can become part of a CMS/RHS tradition that would be good old-fashioned fun for our students who are still kids despite their size.
We need your help to spread the word and we are looking for volunteers to join Relay and help us organize and run the First Annual CMS/RHS Relay for Life Festival. I think it will be a lot of fun and further bring our community together while helping those who are affected by cancer. If you are interested in helping in any way, please email Jennifer LaPietra at Lapietra@fultonschools.org. We plan to have our first relay meeting the second week in February. We would love your help ahead of time or during the actual festival or both. Thank you!!!

Support CMS Students In Need
Huskies Helping Huskies continues to assist students in urgent need at Crabapple Middle School. Many of our HHH families rely on the bi-weekly Pleasant Hill Food Pantry to supplement groceries. If you are interested in volunteering at the food pantry, please sign up here. To learn how you can receive assistance from the pantry, reach out to hhh.cms@gmail.com.
HHH is funded by the generosity of our community. Donations made this semester will go back to our enrolled families through Spring break, End-of-Year, and Mid-Summer distributions. Distributions include Walmart grocery gift cards, snack boxes, and seasonal items from the CMS garden. When possible, we offer additional emergency support as needed.
We need your help to make these upcoming distributions happen. Please donate today via Venmo or PayPal. Your donation is tax-deductible and eligible for a corporate match. Thank you for your support.
