EGG HARBOR TOWNSHIP SCHOOL DISTRICT
Central Office Communications: Week of November 1, 2020
OUR CURRENT REALITY
Egg Harbor Township School Community,
We are so happy to see students in our school buildings ! We had the opportunity to experience the first day of school two times this past week with the arrival of Group A on October 27th and Group B on October 29th. Students, teachers, staff, and administrators assisted students with the new health and safety protocols as they navigated through the buildings throughout the day. Please be sure to review our district website for information on our RBS plan and our social media sites for information on health and safety protocols. Please click this link and take the time to click the icons to learn more about each section of our hybrid learning plan and view our COVID-19 Dashboard which provides updated information on COVID-19 cases in the district, the county, and the state.
It is important that students, teachers, staff, and administration adheres to our health and safety guidelines to assist with maintaining a safe and healthy school environment. Everyone in every building is required to correctly wear a mask that covers the nose and mouth at all times, practice social distancing to the greatest extent possible, and be sure to sanitize hands via hand-washing and/or hand sanitizer. Students and staff who are feeling less than well, should not come into school and are required to fill out a health screening form.
We are very aware that there were some delays and disconnections with technology and connectivity during instructional time last week. I thank parents, teachers and students for their patience and understanding. Our wonderful IT department was able to detect the issues and determine that the problems were with our service providers due to the increased usage in the South Jersey area. Engineers from the service providers and our school district have been in constant communications to resolve the issue. We are proud to say that our IT engineers were able to create a way for us to have better connectivity while the service providers create a mend on their end. Thank you to Kevin Urtubey and his IT staff, for your knowledge, passion, and persistence! We are #EHTProud!
If you should have any questions for me or the central office staff, please feel free to email or call. I promise that you will receive answers quicker by way of a phone call or email, rather than using social media or seeking information elsewhere. We are your relevant source of information and we are always open to building relationships and learning about the needs of our school community; I encourage you to want the same.
Together we will continue to be #EHTStrong!! #EHTReady
Yours in Education,
Kimberly A. Gruccio

CLIMATE & CULTURE
The culture of our schools includes our school improvement efforts to increase student achievement for ALL students. Where with Every Hand Together, Every child, Everyday is provided a relevant learning experience. Through professional development opportunities we are building an effective learning culture where students are provided a safe learning environment. Our teachers collaborate in professional learning communities to review student progress in order to provide ALL students with the opportunity to learn at high levels. We have a district -wide initiative that includes individualized interventions through the RTI process to assist ALL students with learning. We know that in order to successfully educate each student, we must be cognizant of each student’s individual learning needs. This can only be accomplished if we work together to eliminate any predictability of achievement disparities by race, ethnicity, gender, language, disability, and/or economics. All faculty and staff participated in equity training during our professional learning days. The high school multicultural club will be preparing to join the district equity committee to participate in collaborative discussions and event planning. Together, we can achieve more!

ATHLETICS/FINE AND PERFORMING ARTS/ACTIVITIES
OUT WITH THE OLD!
Crews have removed the turf and the track is being resurfaced. The track will be school colors; black and silver. Crews started with the silver sections first. Next comes the black areas and the striping. We will continue to update our school community as progress with this project continues. The turf will be here soon. #EHTPride
MESSAGE TO OUR STUDENT ATHLETES AND FINE AND PERFORMING ARTS
Our athletic teams and band are enjoying the opportunity to participate this fall. While it has been different, it has been a sense of normalcy for both students, staff, and parents. It is certainly refreshing to see students in their uniforms, playing for Egg Harbor Township High School. I admire their commitment and will power! #GOEAGLES! The NJSIAA has approved moving forward with the Winter Sports season which is slated for practices to begin on December 3, 2020 and for competition beginning on December 21, 2020. We are awaiting the health and safety protocols for indoor practices and competitions from the Medical Task Force.
Just as a reminder, all student athletes and coaches are required to adhere to a health screening prior to joining any practice, entering any bus or our game fields. A nurse and athletic trainer will be on site to conduct the temperature checks and questionnaire process. Athletes are reminded to come dressed and equipped for participation in practices. This includes having a personal water bottle and a mask/gaiter. There will be no long trips, out of state trips, or state championships. Please know that if you are attending a soccer, field hockey , cross county, or tennis match, you must social distance and wear a mask. It is important that we adhere to the NJSIAA guidelines for high school athletics for the health and safety of all.
Construction has started on the track and turf and the area has been deemed a construction site. Crews have removed the turf, working on prepping the foundation for the new turf and track resurfacing and should be finishing up this week. The turf should arrive any day now and installation will soon follow.
Good luck to all of our student athletes and band members!
Play with pride! Do your best! Reach your Goal!
GO EAGLES!
