Mrs. Reiber's Apple Newsletter
November 7, 2016
Important Reminders
- Each night, the white folder will come home with your child, along with their agenda. The agenda will have assignments and spelling words written in it. The folder will have the actual homework papers and any other important papers to take home or to return to school. Thank you in advance for your help and cooperation.
- Homework this week: Reading homework and math homework, due on Friday. There is no spelling homework because we do not have a spelling test this week. Instead, we have 2 days of AIR state tests on the computers.
- The Ohio state test for third grade students (the AIR reading test) will be given on the computers on November 10th and November 11th. Our class is taking them in the afternoon, from 12:45-2:45. Please make sure your child is present on those days as much as you can. Thanks!
- Book orders for this month are due by November 28, 2016, online only please. New book order flyers will be going home every Monday for your child to browse.
- Students are in school on Election Day and Veterans Day this week.
- Please remember the second round of parent conferences is taking place this Wednesday, November 9th. I have previously contacted the parents who are attending.
- Looking ahead: Grandparents Day in third grade will be held on Tuesday, November 15 (I think it is in the morning but am not sure yet). The third grade students will also be singing in their music concert later that night at THS.
Thanks,
Mrs. Reiber

What we are learning in Room 12 this week...
This is the area of the weekly newsletter where parents/guardians can be informed of what is planned for our week. If your child is ever going to be absent, please let me know in advance if possible, so I can send make-up work with them.
- Math - We started our next math unit about measurement and time. We are learning about grams, kilograms, liters, and milliliters. This week we'll incorporate scales and measuring grams and kilograms using beans and rice.
- Reading - We will learn about the election process briefly this week. We will also continue to learn about "The Dip" and what we should do if we get stuck while learning. (I have sent the links to these weekly videos in Class Dojo for you.)
- Writing/Spelling - There are no spelling words this week. For writing class, we are continuing to create descriptive sentences and we are beginning our narrative writing process.
- Social Studies - We have begun our next unit, which is about government. We will discuss the three branches of government, touch upon elections/presidents/mayors/leaders, and this week the students will "campaign" for the fictional role of "class president!"
