Lori Wilson - Good Luck to Testers!
Lori Wilson's kindergarteners wanted to do something for their 5th grade test taking friends, so they made a good luck video with test tips and words of encouragement! They also created cards for their friends.
Lori's class hopes all test takers, in our district, will do well on their state testing!

Amy Burkett - Project-Based Learning
Amy gave her document camera a new function as a surveillance camera! Amy's students got to hold new baby chicks and learn about chickens as part of their lessons last week. Using the document camera, students were able to watch the chicks on the Promethean board.
They also used the chickens for a math lesson, learning about ratios and proportions, creating equivalent ratios to see how many of each kind of chick Mrs. Burkett will have when she becomes a famous chicken farmer!!! During reading class, the students came up with their own questions (How many eggs do they lay, how long do they live, what do they eat... etc) and researched answers to help Mrs. Burkett learn how to be the perfect chicken farmer!
Scott Dallas - Ukuleles
Scott has taken on a unique challenge to teach elementary students to play the ukulele. With the help of a grant, Scott was able to purchase 12 ukuleles for West Elementary and 12 for Marrs Elementary. Scott uses YouTube to find helpful videos teaching chords and finger placement.
Watch Scott's after school children as they preform Amazing Grace.
