Distance Learning Academy
Grades 6-12 Important Information
Dear students and families,
This week I had the pleasure and opportunity to be with and work alongside your wonderful 6-12 distance learning teachers. I could not be more pleased to announce Mr. Kirkland, Ms. Strain, Ms. Tabor, Mrs. Vixayvong, and Mr. Thompson. Our school is supported by the administrative assistant, Dana Johnson, the educational assistant, Deb Byett, and the Principal, David Treichel.
Elective Options and Registration
Thank you for your patience as we refined our design and list of electives opportunities our students have the opportunity to take. The Distance Learning Academy design for delivering electives was strengthened over the last week. The North Branch Area High School elective teachers will be teaching the distance learning elective courses for students in grades 9 through 12. This is important because it allows students more flexibility and continuity of elective choice offerings. The elective choices will be shared with families on Tuesday, September 8th. The electives options are broken down by grade level and by choice. In addition, students will also have a choice to participate in an NBAHS teacher created distance learning elective or an Edmentum Learning created elective. All Edmentum Learning created classes are taught and supported by an HS elective teacher. Again, this design provides more continuity between our two schools.
Elective classes in grades 6 through 8 will be taught by Distance Learning Academy teachers. The course lists for grades 6 through 8 will be made available to students on Tuesday, September 8th.
All core classes (English Language Arts, Math, Social Studies, and Science) will be live on September 10th once the question and answer sessions are completed with elective courses coming online the following week. Again thank you for your patience.
