6th Graders - 6:30-7:00 - instrument try-outs
Instrument try-outs are really geared towards students whom do not know which instrument they want to play. Sometimes we find that what we want to play doesn't fit, so that is why we try different instruments. Please keep in mind though, we must try to be efficient with this process. Please have an idea of what you would like to play beforehand. Students should have their instruments no later than 3 weeks after school starts by August 16th at the latest! :)

A WORD FROM MR. SISSON
Dear Skyview Families,
I hope that you have had a wonderful and restful summer after an unprecedented '20-'21 school year. As we begin to prepare for the '21-'22 school year, I want to reach out to families to remind you to start thinking and planning for the upcoming school year. I am excited to return to a more traditional school year and have students in full attendance. As we know seat time for students is critical, and after the last 18 months there will be an adjustment for students to be in a normal learning environment.
Please keep an eye out for emails and on the school website for updates and upcoming events at Skyview. We will be placing a greater emphasis on parents utilizing PowerSchool through the parent portal to access student information, including students grades. Information for parents to access PowerSchool will be provided in the coming weeks to ensure all parents are able to access the management system. Instruction and student support is our top priority, and we want to work together to support all of our students. We will also be making school information more readily available this year through the school website, so please make sure to bookmark those sites for your convenience. (Links listed at the bottom of the newsletter.)
As the summer begins to wind down, please take time to review the school calendar for start dates. We are excited to be hosting WEB day again this year for incoming 6th graders and will be revisiting the exciting opportunities that students missed last year during COVID. Preparing students for secondary learning takes time, and we are committed to providing a well rounded learning opportunity for all students. Enjoy the rest of your summer, Eagles. We look forward to seeing you all soon.
GO EAGLES!

D49 UPDATED OPERATING PROTOCOLS - EFFECTIVE JUNE 1
In compliance with new guidance from the Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment (CDPHE) and our partners at El Paso County Public Health (EPCPH), D49 will accelerate our adjustment to the protocols we shared late last week. Effective immediately, Tuesday, June 1:
- Individuals may make a personal determination whether or not to wear a mask in all District 49 programs and facilities based on state and county guidance about vaccination/recovery status.
- Further, we have no expectation that individuals will report their private medical status or symptoms.
In addition, D49 will comply with the the following guidance updates from CDPHE and our local public health partners:
- Children 12 years old and younger are not required to wear masks. Mask wearing by students at our campuses shall not be the responsibility of, nor be enforced by, district personnel, including health professionals.
- Restrictions on indoor gatherings have been lifted.
For all contagious illnesses, we expect that healthy individuals will come to school or work, and individuals who are sick will stay home for at least 24 hours after symptoms subside. These protocols comply with current health requirements and executive orders. If conditions change or the state issues further directives, we will analyze and respond accordingly.
Please monitor our regular channels of communication for updates. We thank you for your enduring patience, understanding and trust.
