100 Days Smarter
Last Thursday, the District marked the 100th day of school! At School #1, Charles Olbon, and Beatrice Gilmore Schools, classes took part in a number of different activities that involve counting to 100.
Preschool students at School #1 and Charles Olbon School dressed as an elderly person or decorated a t-shirt with 100 items.
At Charles Olbon School, kindergarten students decorated a teddy bear with 100 items and placed them on hallway bulletin boards. First grade students held a t-shirt fashion show - red carpet style. Second grade students brought in mystery bags with 100 items of their choice which were presented in class.
At Beatrice Gilmore School, students dressed up like a 100-year-old man or woman, decorated a T-shirt with 100 things, made a necklace with 100 beads, or brought in a collection of 100 of something.

Mindset Mission
Charles Olbon School was excited to welcome back the character education assembly The Ned Show. Ned is a cartoon character whose name is an acronym for Never give up, Encourage others, and Do your best. The visit was the Ned’s Mindset Mission, which uses storytelling, humor, puppetry, audience participation, and magic tricks to bring forth its messages.
The students learn valuable lessons about…
- The Power of Yet – If you're not good at something, it just means you're not good at it yet
- How to spark courage in others
- How to keep learning and growing, even when you think you already know something.
The Ned Show came to the school at no cost. The school made yo-yos and accessories available for sale following the show for purchase, which reinforce multi-sensory learning and are tangible reminders that increase the student's ability to retain Ned’s messages long after the assembly. Proceeds from CO’s sale will allow other schools to benefit from the program.
Find out more about the program here. The site offers resources for parents and teachers.

BG Influencers
