Meet our Team

Mrs. Ohlman and Chillie welcomed a new member to our team, Mrs. Karla Koops-Fikse. Mrs. Koops-Fikse comes to us with many years of experience as a counselor at Grand Rapids Christian High School, and we are happy she is a part of the NRMS Counseling Team.

We have been busy visiting the 6th grade homerooms introducing ourselves and Chillie, talking about using planners, and showing a video about getting organized for success in middle school.

One Minute Meetings: We are currently holding individual meetings with each 6th grader so we can assess how to support their transition to middle school.

True Success: The November theme is GRATITUDE. We are providing weekly True Success Lessons during RAM Time. Students have also been writing thank you notes to teachers at lunch to be delivered next week.

We are grateful we have been able to finish the 1st trimester in person and look forward to another successful trimester.

RAM TIME Intervention Schedule

Starting November 1st, we implemented our new RAM Time intervention schedule. The daily schedule still remains the same, with school starting at 7:40 am and dismissing at 2:30 pm. Our RAM Time intervention will be 30 minutes, during the school day. This provides staff the opportunity to work with students who are struggling or need extensions on the priority standards. Our building goals focus on individual learning paths for students in reading and math. We also focus on academic, social, and emotional learning skills that include: self-awareness, self-management, responsible decision-making, social awareness, and relationship skills.

8th grade East Coast Trip Information

We are so excited to be able to take our 8th graders on the East Coast Trip again this year. We will have so much fun going to Niagara Falls (USA side and NOT Canada), New York City, Philadelphia, Washington D.C, Hershey Park, and more.

Dates: June 8-14, 2022

Cost: $1429.00 (Fundraising opportunities will be available)

This year, Cannonsburg has made a change to the program. Now, all members who pay by credit card will do so at their store on their website, Cannonsburg.com. Cannonsburg is urging you to purchase online. When you register you will need to enter our school building, North Rockford Middle School, RPS. We will be doing an NRMS Ski and Board night on Mondays beginning in January. You do not have to purchase a punch card in order to participate in NRMS Ski and Board Nights-ALL are welcome.
