Husky Happenings
October 29 - Nov 3
From Mr. Martin
Our “No fundraiser - fundraiser” has ended. We made roughly $4300. This was our first year to attempt this activity, and we will continue to refine this process. Our goal was to keep our students and their families out of the business of selling for TRMS. What we learned:
A small percentage of our parents carry the largest load. (see paper copy to do your part)
Sales of items do generate profit. In general, a larger percentage of parents and students do participate, but we only get a portion of the profits.
Our fundraiser was 100% profit and all will be spent at TRMS.
Our goal next year is to increase parent participation that will push us closer to our goal of $6,000. We also intend to continue the practice of one fundraising event for the year.
A reminder about lost and found: We did set up two tables full of lost and found during parent teacher conferences. We also kept those tables set up for students to pick up any lost items. We will donate these items to a local charity next week.
Please note that Halloween falls during the week. We do not wear costumes on this day. I am proud that our StuCo has made this a spirit day. I am looking forward to seeing our students ‘dress as your favorite comic or cartoon character.’

From Nurse Rhea:
Achoo….Not the Flu!!!
Let’s face it catching the flu (aka influenza) is miserable. So here are a few facts about influenza and what you and your family can do to help prevent it. First of all, influenza and the stomach flu are often thought to be the same thing, however they are not. Influenza is a highly contagious respiratory infection caused by influenza viruses. The influenza virus usually enters the body through mucous membranes in the mouth, nose, or eyes.
Flu symptoms: Sudden onset of fever, chills, body aches, tiredness, coughing, sneezing, and sore throat. Ways to prevent the flu: wash hands often with soap and water, avoid touching face, cover all sneezes and coughs with your elbow, and get plenty of rest and exercise. If you or your children get the flu please stay home and take care of yourselves until you are free from fever for 24 hours without fever reducing medications. Thank you for helping keep our Trail Ridge students healthy!

FROM OUR COUNSELORS AND SOCIAL WORKER:
October is bully awareness month. This year 5th-8th will compete to see how many students can be reported for giving an online or personal compliment. This will be a fun way for you to learn ways to report online bullying. Currently the 6th grade is in the lead, closely followed by the 5th grade.
MINDSET MOMENT: Shoot for the moon. Even if you miss, you land among the stars.
