Week 6: July 25-29 2016

¡Bienvenidos!

Your student will be working on Unit 6. We have 2 more units to go.

  • Students will have a Unit Project to show mastery of Units 5 and Unit 6. They will have 3 parts for this project. They can use Prezi, Slide Share or any other Web 2.0. They can not use PowerPoint or Google Slides. Students will have to record their voices talking about how they spent time while in Spain. They will write about what they order and ate in a Spanish Restaurant. And finally they create a video o presentation telling how to make a Spanish dish using what they have learned in the Unit 6.
  • It is extremely important that you, as the ELA (and parent), remind your students to communicate with me (and any other online teachers), as well as for you to contact me/us yourself. The team between schools/ELAs, parents, students and NCVPS teachers works best when all are on the same page and have effective communication. The best way for ELAs/parents to contact me is via email at luz.antolinez-basto@ncpublicschools.gov or by text at 910-587-0812. For students, those are always ways that they can contact me. But, they have the additional resources in/from the course: Canvas Messages. If you don't have email, texting is the next best method at 910-587-0812. Calling by phone is the least effective method due to my hectic schedule this summer. I appreciate your support!
  • Please remember that any incomplete/missing assignments are calculated as 0s. I go in each weekend and input 0s for work that should have been done, but wasn't. If a student is behind, any work that should be done (or was missed/skipped) is being calculated as a 0. The students CAN and SHOULD still go in and complete these ASAP. Once they do and they're graded, their new grades will be reflected in the Canvas gradebook. This is one of the reasons that it is SO important for students to stay on track (or ahead) and use the Schedule of Assignments (linked below) as a check-off list/agenda! If you/your student/s have ANY questions about grades/feedback, etc., please let me know! :-)
  • In order to help you know exactly what your student is missing, I have updated the Missing Assignments Tracking sheet. Please use it to guide your student's work in order to improve his/her grade.
