BJH 8TH GRADE STUDENTS TOUR BUINGER CAREER & TECHNICAL ACADEMY
Bedford Junior High 8th graders took a trip to the Buinger CTE Academy on Friday, January 13. In preparation for the trip, the AMAZING BJH Counselors met the students in December to let them complete a Google questionnaire that determined the rotation groups that they were assigned.
This is a great time for them to get familiar with the Buinger CTE Academy on what they offer, experience some classes, and learn more about endorsement options. This is always a highlight for the students.
If your student was absent from the school on the day of the field trip, please sign up for the CTE Connections Conference on either February 2nd , or March 9th from 6pm - 8 pm

ATHLETICS THIS WEEK
BEDFORD UNITED SOCCER

FRESHMAN GIRLS SOCCER
FRESHMAN GIRLS BASKETBALL
The freshman girls played a great game Tuesday night, taking on Boswell at home. We came out strong, battling for every point and getting great stops defensively. Jaylin Wilson drove our offense the first and second quarter, racking up 9 points by halftime, with Katrina Spencer, Adraiya Hill, and Zoey Herring also chipped in offensively to send us into halftime down by 10, but playing our best basketball.
The third quarter, Boswell came out strong and outscored us 15 - 6, pushing the lead to 19, but our girls did not give up and started chipping away at the deficit 2 at a time. Hill, Wilson, Herring and Savannah Williams all contributed offensively, with Ella Trevino had some great assists to make those points happen.
On the defensive side, Natalie Luna, Addison Smith, Addyson Williams, and Amira Yassin turned up the aggression and put the Boswell team on their heels, forcing several errant passes and creating turnovers. Our effort ended up coming short, but everyone contributed and we played some of the best basketball we've played in a while!
8TH GRADE GIRLS BASKETBALL
B Team was down at the half 9-14 but picked up their defense, not allowing the Spartans to score at all in the third quarter & ramped up their team offense, pushing the ball up the court and getting scoring opportunities off the fast break. The final score was 27-20. The leading scorer was Kaylee Hartman with 8, followed by Haley Bedlington and Adalyn McCollum with 5.
A Team dominated from the start with their full court press led by MuRae Horn, Jazz Williams, and Brooklyn Williams. In fact, the Spartans had to call a time-out after only one minute of play to try and regroup. Our team's defense led to many fast-break scoring opportunities. Tough rebounds by Talia Solia-tui, Mia Easter Clark, Hailee Blocker-Smith, and Reagan Ingram resulted in scoring on the other end. The final score was 47-21. MuRae Horn led the team with 10, followed by Jazz and Brooklyn Williams with 8, Kenslee Turner had 6, Reagan Ingram, Mia Easter Clark, and Talia Solia-tui all had 4, Tia Iafeta with a pair, and Madeline Dean with a free throw!
We play back at home next week against Euless. We will then be hosting an 8th-grade A team tournament Friday and Saturday! Many opportunities to come to see these spirited girls compete!
7TH GRADE GIRLS BASKETBALL
The 7th grade Team 1 got a huge district win Wednesday night beating Central 45-29. Leading the way was Charlotte Martinez scoring 15 points hitting 4 3 pointers. Sariyah Crater had 10, Reagan Bennett had 8, Kynlee Horn had 4, Julianna Miller, Jillian Smith and London Morgan all scored 2 points each. The defense was everywhere led by Kynlee Horn who guarded their best players. London Morgan, Sariyah Crater, Jillian Smith and Reagan Bennett had several steals leading to big baskets. Great job ladies! Coach Hurtado is so proud of you!!
9TH GRADE BOYS BASKETBALL
8TH GRADE BOYS BASKETBALL
B team started the night while taking a big lead over the Spartans into the half. In the second half, the Spartans began a comeback that your Broncos could not recover from. In the end the Spartans took a close victory. Players of the game were Channing Humphreys, Jake McCallister and Dom Williams.
7TH GRADE BOYS BASKETBALL
The B team kicked off the night playing a tough scrappy Central squad. Roaring back late to bring the game within 5 points your BJH boys 7th grade B came up just short of pulling off the comeback.
In the night's second game, the BJH 7th grade A team played a well-coached and very physical Central Jr high team. Falling behind early in the game your BJH boys couldn't seem to get their rhythm going on the night. Leading scores on the night were Myles Still and Tayvian Morris.
We look to bounce back next week vs Euless JH.
