Building a Better World: Under Construction!
This year our theme is "Building a Better World" and we are under construction! We help to "build that better world" with our connections to colleagues and students, our commitment to bring our best each day, and a focus on all the great things happening around us.
We have 3 main areas of focus as we head into this new school year:
Culture/Relationships with students and staff
Supports for students (behavior and academic)
Student engagement and quality instruction
Mark your calendar!
Provided: Fried chicken, plates/napkins, utensils, and bottles of water.
Bring: A side dish or dessert to share and a drink, if you want something other than water.
This is a great time to get to know new staff members and their families, as well as a time to hand out with each other before the start of the year. Can't wait to see you there with your family!
New staff shirts will be handed out at the Potluck! If you can't make it, shirts will be available in the office on Friday, Aug. 10th. We will wear our shirts to Opening Session on August 13.
Opening Session - August 13
Everyone should wear their new school shirt for the event. We will have an areasassigned for our staff to sit at the event.
Again, the program will begin at 8:30 and you will want to allow time to find parking and make it into the building, which could be particularly tricky this year due to construction. Try to carpool!
We have a guest speaker who will address staff. His name is Brian Mendler, a difference maker who will light us on fire to head into the year.
After the presentation, we will make our way to the football field for an entire JCPS staff picture. We will be creating the words "JC Reads." I am guessing we will have a specific location to stand.
**Watch for more information from the Larry Linthacum or our PR office. This will come out via email in the next week.
