Dream Deferred
By Langston Hughes
Alliteration
Dreams Die-
Your dreams will fade away over time.
Dream Deferred-
Dreams are put off till a future time.
Syrupy Sweet-
Dreams are sweet,like rewards.
Imagery
Raisin in the Sun
Overtime, opportunities to make your dreams into reality reduce in frequency.
Syrupy Sweet
If you could taste your dreams, it'd be a sweet and sugary taste. A taste of reward.
Rotten Meat
If you let your dreams sit still, and put them off for too long, it'll go bad and they won't come true.
Figurative
Rhyme- "Die" and "Fly"
You can either pursue your dreams, or let them die.
Simile- Sags like a heavy load
Your dreams are always weighing on your mind until you do something about it.
Hyperbole- Life is a Broken-Winged Bird that cannot fly.
If dreams die, you have nothing left. Hold on to your dreams, because if they die, you will not fly.
I like this poem because it's optimistic, but says the straight out truth. You can either let your dreams die, or take every chance you get, to make them into reality.
