PRINCIPAL'S CORNER
Dear ICCS families,
Tomorrow is the feast of Mary, Mother of Mercy, which is the patronal feast for my religious community, the Religious Sisters of Mercy. To celebrate, I have been going to each religion class to speak to the students about religious life and what it means to be a Sister. It has been an absolute joy to get to know our students better and to have them get to know me as well. I will be holding our ICCS community especially in prayer tomorrow. Please pray for me and the rest of the Religious Sisters of Mercy!

DRIVE THRU PET BLESSING ON OCTOBER 4
This school year, due to health safety and ongoing construction around our campus, we are revising an annual ICCS Tradition that is "PAW-SITIVELY" a favorite for many of our students and families. The 2021 ICCS Pet Blessing will be a drive-thru event, rather than a large crowd gathering. Pets will be blessed by Father Rommel or Father Bond on Monday, October 4th between 7:30 a.m. and 8:00 a.m. in the Park Avenue Parking lot.
In order to make this special drive-thru event a safe success, several important details and instructions are provided below. For more information, please call (337) 433-3497.
- The ICCS drive-thru Pet Blessing will take place in the Park Avenue parking lot.
- The "curbside" blessings will begin promptly at 7:30 a.m. and end at 8:00 a.m. (or until the last animal is blessed).
- Participants are asked to turn right or left onto Park Avenue from Shell Beach Drive ONLY (do not turn onto Park Avenue from Ryan Street). The Pet Blessing traffic line will be formed heading South on Park Avenue (turning right into the Park Avenue parking lot) and following the normal student drop off and pick up path/route.
- Please do not block driveways on Park Avenue at any time.
- Parents, pets, and students must remain in the vehicle at all times. Once your pet has been blessed "curbside," students must exit the vehicle, enter the building and report directly to their classroom. Duty teachers will be on-hand to safely supervise the student arrival process during the Pet Blessing event.
- Parents must exit the Park Avenue parking lot by turning RIGHT on Ryan Street.
- IMPORTANT: if your family will NOT BE BRINGING A PET TO SCHOOL ON OCTOBER 4, please drop your student off on the Wilson Street side of the building between 7:30 a.m. and 7:50 a.m. **The Park Avenue drop-off area will be utilized for Pet Blessings ONLY on the morning of October 4.
- If your family is unable to bring your beloved pet to school on October 4 to receive a blessing, please feel free to send a photograph of the pet to kmorgan@iccsweb.com for a special video that will be shared with our school community the week of October 4-8.
Additional information and instructions will be shared with all ICCS families next week.

MRS. VIAU AND MRS. MARCANTEL COMPLETE TRAINING
ICCS Director of Religious Education, Mrs. Rose Viau, and retired ICCS teacher and Atrium volunteer, Mrs. Jolynn Marcantel recently completed 100 hours of specialized Catechesis of the Good Shepard training that will help them expand The Atrium program here at ICCS.
The Atrium is a special room on the ICCS campus where students gather on a regular basis. The children learn about the Catholic faith and get a better understanding of what is happening during Mass. They also learn about Scripture, the places where Jesus walked, and the Sacraments.
The Atrium is a unique place where our student's relationship with God is fostered each and every week.

SPIRIT RIBBON SALE BIG SUCCESS
PRIESTHOOD SUNDAY THIS WEEKEND
We are especially thankful for Father Rommel Tolentino, Father Sam Bond, and all of the Diocese of Lake Charles priests who share their gifts and faith with us at Immaculate Conception Cathedral School.
Our students have been praying the following Novena for our priests each morning this week.
NOVENA FOR PRIESTS
Jesus, Good Shepherd, You sent us the Holy Spirit to guide Your Church and lead her faithful to You through the ministry of Your priests. Through the inspiration of the Holy Spirit, grant to Your priests' wisdom in leading, faithfulness in teaching, and holiness in guarding Your sacred Mysteries. As they cry out with all the faithful, 'Abba, Father!’ may Your priests be ever more closely identified with You in Your divine Sonship and offer their own lives with You, the one saving Victim. Make them helpful brothers of one another, and understanding fathers of all Your people. Renew in Your priests deeper faith, greater trust in You, childlike reliance on our Mother Mary, and unwavering fidelity to the Holy Father and his bishops.
Holy Mary, intercede for your priests.
St. Joseph, protect them.
St. Michael, defend them.
St. John Vianney, pray for them.
COMMUNITY NEWS
ROSARY AROUND THE LAKE AND PARTIAL INDULGENCE
The fourth annual Rosary Around the Lake, organized by the Ruth Institute, will take place Sunday, October 3, beginning at 2 p.m. at the Lake Charles Civic Center. This year, Bishop Glen John Provost is granting a partial indulgence to the faithful who gather for the event to offer prayers for the Church, the nation, and the world. The partial indulgence for participation is in addition to the plenary indulgence granted to the faithful who devoutly recite the Marian rosary publicly.
"The family is under attack from all sides,” said Dr. Jennifer Roback Morse, founder of the Ruth Institute. "We know that we cannot achieve our mission of defending the family and building a civilization of love, without Divine Assistance. And who better to implore for help than the Mother of God herself."
Participants will meet in the area on the west side of the Civic Center and organize in groups of 11 to form a "Living Rosary." The organizer of each group will wear a gold T-shirt representing the “Lord’s Prayer,” with the team’s other 10 members in blue T-shirts representing the 10 “Hail Mary” beads. Anyone is welcome to attend either individually, with their family or a small group, or by organizing a “decade” of 10 people.
The Ruth Institute has sponsored Rosary Around the Lake in Lake Charles since 2018 as a way of praying for salvation and renewal for our world, our culture, our nation, our neighbors, and ourselves. To sign up online and learn more information, visit www.RosaryAroundTheLake.com.
