Fraser Library @ Bishop Kelly
Fall 2021
We've reached peak excitement for the start of this school year! The Bishop Kelly Library is back to being a library full-time, and it feels good. Students are always welcome use the space for studying during class, printing, checking out day-use laptops, and much more.
Browse through this newsletter for an introduction to our new Library Assistant, a highlight of new books and resources, a call to vote in the Teens' Top Ten, and a reminder of where to find those pesky database passwords.
Welcome, Mrs. Flores!
We're so thrilled to welcome Mrs. Alejandrina (Alex) Flores to BK as the new Library Assistant. Before joining the library, Mrs. Flores was a substitute teacher at Bishop Kelly and had a strong background in human resources. Mrs. Flores has a B.A. in Psychology and Criminal Justice and a minor in Business Administration from California State University- Fullerton. She's always game for a conversation about your favorite movie, ready to beat you in bowling, and has the best laugh around!

2021 Teen's Top Ten Voting is Open
Have you been reading new releases all year? Do you have a *super* strong opinion about your favorites? Now's your time to vote! YALSA (Young Adult Library Service Association) is releasing their list of the top books for 2020, and they need all the votes they can get!

Resource Alert: Financial Literacy Starter Kit
We've recently added Grey House Publishing's Financial Literacy Starter Kit to our collection. As students' weigh their options behind opening a checking account, buying a car, or applying for student loans, this can be an excellent resource to walk them through those (and many other) processes. Look for more excellent reference resources on the library's database page!
Research Reminder: Database Passwords
BK has a variety of databases for students' online research. On campus, these databases should be automatically accessible. However, the require passwords when students log into them from home. These passwords are posted on Schoology in the Library Course.
Read Anywhere with Sora
The physical library may not be open on the weekends, but the online library isn't going anywhere! Log into Sora for ebooks and eaudiobooks on your computer or through an app on your phone. If you need a refresher on how to use Sora, check out this video!
Finally, my favorite thing about Sora is that it connects you to amazing collections beyond BK. Use your Sora account to check out content from your public library and the Idaho Digital E-Book Alliance. See how to add these collections in this YouTube video.
