On October 20th, parents, students, and staff walk in support of Breast Cancer Awareness.

Shary Elementary Fall Festival
The 2nd annual Fall Festival organized by John H. Shary SPTSO and parent volunteers was a wonderful event where all of the community came together!

Martinez Elementary BooHoo-WooHoo Breakfast
Leaving your child for the 1st time at school is hard. PK & Kindergarten parents join the Martinez staff as they help share school information and tissues with new Martinez Elementary parents.

Shimotsu International Fest
Parents representing 37 countries made booths to showcase their customs and traditions. Booth activities included: writing your name in different languages, making origami figures, tasting authentic foods, playing games from different countries, and experiencing an international parade of families dressed in customary attire.

Wernecke Attendance HERO Celebration
Parent Volunteers helped reward students for having perfect attendance during the 1st grading period. Students received cupcakes & Juice, and then designed their own super hero masks.

Wernecke Elementary Tailgate BBQ
As a big THANK YOU, Wernecke parents & administrators treated staff to a tailgate, duty-free lunch.

Garza Elementary Muffins with Mom
To honor their moms, Garza Elementary hosted a special Muffins with Mom event.

Hinojosa Pumpkin Decorating
Hinojosa Elementary parents help their PK students decorate their pumpkins for Fall.

Hinojosa Perfect Attendance Celebration
Hinojosa Parent Volunteers helped organize the "Calling All Super Heroes Perfect Attendance Celebration". Students were able to dress up as their favorite Super Hero and take pictures with friends in the Perfect Attendance Photo Booth.

BLG SPTSO
In a changing world, parents need to stay informed. At BLG's October SPTSO meeting, Detective Joe Aguilar from Mission PD presented "How Social Media Gets Kids in Trouble". On Nov. 3rd, Detective Aguilar will present "Drug Trends in the RGV". Parents are invited to attend.

SNJH Red Ribbon Decorating
In support of Red Ribbon Week, and encouraging kids to stay drug free, SNJH Parents decorated the campus with RED ribbons.

SHS Community Pep-Rally & Homecoming Parade
On October 27th, SHS held their annual Community Pep-Rally and Homecoming Parade. It was a huge success with over 26 floats participating in the parade, and 12 performances from our schools and community.

SHS Rattler Connect Meetings
High School years fly by in a blink of an eye. Sharyland High School Administrators & Staff present valuable information on high school requirements, preparing for college, school resources and parent communication. Their next meeting is scheduled for Monday, Nov. 28th.

SHS Trunk or Treat
On October 31st, SHS hosted its 1st Annual TRUNK OR TREAT event, a fun-filled familly evening for parents to bring their kids out to enjoy games, candies, and much more.

PHS Homecoming Hoedown
The third annual Hoedown hosted by student organizations and parent booster clubs was followed by a community pep rally to showcase all the feeder school student talent and Diamondback pride.

PHS College Fair
Pioneer High School hosted over 25 colleges and universities. It was a successful evening for Sharyland ISD for students, parents and community.

PHS FAFSA Submittal Night
In October, PHS hosted a FAFSA Submittal Night where students & parents were able to receive assistance in completing their financial aid applications. Four colleges sent representatives to assist students & parents. A second FAFSA Submittal Night has been scheduled for Nov. 15th.

Parent Diabetes Class
Texas AgriLife Extension provided their series "Si Yo Puedo Controlar Mi Diabetes", a class focused on understanding and managing diabetes.

TX Citrus Fiesta Costume Making Class
The Texas Citrus Fiesta taught parents and students about the folk art of creating costumes out of citrus, and how to create costumes for the Texas Citrus Fiesta Costume Show scheduled for January 21, 2017.

Parent Nutrition Class
SISD joined with Texas AgriLife Extension to present "Healthy Foods, Healthy Families", a class on how to prepare healthy meals for your family.

THANK YOU!
A special THANK YOU to Channel 5 for inviting us to participate in their Heart of the Valley: Children in Need project. This 21 story series focused on issues like poverty, homelessness, gangs, hunger, addiction and more.
Our Day of Giving Drive was a SUCCESS!
We collected over 300 hygiene products, 100 coats/sweaters, 25 blankets/heaters & 1000 books. Our community sponsors included: Channel 5, Walmart, Khols, Home Depot, Target, Lacks, Begum Law Office, Rio Bank, Payne Auto Group, and Academy Sports. Our community sponsors helped provide boxes and volunteers for our event, and also donated $2500 in additional items.
